Yes, I'm pimping this film, which opens in America today. While I may be British, I'm not supportive of British films because (say it quietly) most suck. They suck rotten eggs backwards through a narrow straw most are so bad.
And they're bad because they aim for the American market as well as the British market, so you get all these films that have neither one identity or another.
Anyhow
Shaun of the Dead is a British films I'm proud of, It's totally British, full of "real" British characters, not stereotypes. And you sbould all go and see it. It's a British romantic comedy. With Zombies.

I'll second that!
Saw this film on DVD last week for the first time, and was quite impressed (of course, I was expecting to like it).
Funny, gory and surprisingly touching (sometimes all at the same time).
It is one of those films that works well as a traditional zombie film AND a comedy, which is a mighty hard thing to do. George Romero seems to like it - so much that he wants to work with Pegg in the future!
Plus, there are a number of other great English comics in there, including Dylan Moran from Black Books.

Or, as they put it, a RomZomCom.
Go see it (and buy
Undead, to support the Australian zombie industry).

Whenever I see the previews on TV, I think of 2099net. I know Loomis likes this one too, but I imagine this "Shaun" fellow to be a bit like the Netty JR.

I hadn't heard of this film until tonight when I went to a site. It had an awesome rating, and now backed by people on this site, I may just have to give it a shot...

Wahooo! One conversion! "Join Us" jabroni76!
And the Rotten Tomatoes rating has risen to 93%

That's the same as Spider-Man 2 and Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring!
Luke, I'm more like Ed, not Shaun!

Well, that much is obvious.
I mean to say 'British' and by that including the British Isles and outlying territories and parts thereof...
Ahh....Dylan Moran transcends territorial boundaries.

A big surprise was the debut of the British import Shaun of the Dead at eighth place, despite playing at only 607 theaters. The film took in $3.3 million, or $5,437 per theater
Not bad. I understand it's getting a wider relase in 2 weeks time. Come on people, make it NUMBER ONE!

Just watched Shaun of the Dead today and loved it! The humor is "lol funny" most of the time, and the zombie FX are very good as well. I would have to say it equals, if not surpasses, 28 Days in terms of style and substance. Plus 28 Days later was about as funny as cancer.

I'm sorry, but I can't imagine how anybody could watch that film. I'm not one of these immature morons that goes around message boards trashing every film he doesn't like. People have their own opinions. However, this film is just so incredibly, laughably, unwatchably bad that I just have to warn everybody here, do NOT buy it. The music sounds like something composed on a $10 electronic keyboard by a 10-year-old, the acting is worse than bad (especially by that dude in your avatar, sorry man). Obviously everyone is free to do what they want, but nobody say I didn't warn you.

Just wanted to chime in on this one...
I saw a double feature on Saturday of Shaun of the Dead and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Shaun was an amazing film, very funny! The entire audience rose and applauded at the end, which doesn't happen every day. It was very humorous and actually had a strong message. This is a really great parody of the zombie genre and was made for the fans, but non-genre fans will appreciate it as well. I reccomend it highly.
The Resident Evil sequel was quite good as well in different ways than Shaun, of course. This film features zombies but is very light on the gore. I'd say that its almost an action movie with zombies but there were a lot of those 'jump' scenes that kept my gal pal leaping out of her seat. Fans of the video game will probably enjoy this the most, but it stands on its own as an entertaining action/horror movie.
It was a great night for zombies... ah zombies!
