Do most of you do this?

If so, have you ever had any problems having a DVD replaced and, more specifically, what are the steps involved in doing so?

I have registered most of my Disney DVD collection but I have been unable to access the site the last few days to update my list.

I registed all of mine, as I discovered a problem with my Mickey in Living Color disc. They have been really good so far in replacing it. I haven't reeived the replacement yet, but they have been cool to me so far.

Alright...so my next thought is, will they replace OOP DVDs?

Our daughter's "unauthorized" handling of The Little Mermaid (on Mom's watch :x ) is slowly taking it's toll on this Disc.

I don't do this. They'll replace problematic discs through their Support Website, regardless of this 'registration' thing. At least they have the one time I had a troublesome disc. So, I don't think they need to know which DVDs I've bought.

No! Don't register!

It is a way of tracking your movements and purchases and stuff!

At least that is what the voice in my head tell me...you, know. Because of the implant.

Actually, most of these "register your product" things are only designed to get stats and info so they can target their advertising at the appropriate demographic better.

I am cynical, but for the most part it is a healthy cynicism

Loomis I buy 90% of my R1 DVDs from Amazon and it's amazing how much demographic information they must hold on me. In fact, it's quite scary how accurate their "Amazon Recommends" listings are.

When I die, I will live on, in a range of purchasing data on the Amazon database that can appropriate my personality. Now that's scary!

If you buy & sell, you may not want to register. Leave the registration to the second owner, he/she may appreciate it.

Re: disc replacement, I've just had Swiss Family Robinson replaced and it was very simple and easy, with no expense to me.

If you don't mind getting Disney junk mail, then you should register, you could get all sorts of nice things. For example I get a newssheet and nice little promos for all new releases at El Capitan. They already know where you live anyway.

Yeah, I had never really thought about it that way, but the amount Amazon hold on you is scary. I too do a great majority of my US shopping through Amazon. In the end, I will be nothing but a memory of the things I own.

Weird the stuff they recommend you too. In My Recommendations I just noticed a listing for The South Beach Diet: The Delicious, Doctor-Designed, Foolproof Plan for Fast and Healthy Weight Loss. Never ordered a diet book in my life. Are they trying to tell me I should because I order so many DVDs I spend a lot of time on my arse?

When you run a program like AdAware, it is scare to see how many things are running on your computer tracking your shopping and browsing habits for specific advertising.

Firstly, you need to get yourself abducted by aliens. Then you need to be involved in a giant government conspiracy. Start by registering your DVDs at Disney...[/b]
