For those of you who are interested in getting these DVD's I noticed in my local Costco Store today that you can get all three of them in a boxed set for the low price of $31.99 so Basically you are getting one of them for free. So I think I will get it because I was planning to get the sing along for sure,, and had considered geting the stories one, but could not see spending $15 on the Princess Party disc. So this way I can get it for free and not spend the money on it. Plus it has has the offer for the free castle with the $7.99.

Just thought I would let ya'll know for anyone who is interested.

That castle is utterly worthless. I thought it was going to be a nice play-set or something, but then I saw the picture, and it is just a playhouse for little kids, made from CARDBOARD!! That thing is NOT worth $8, let alone $30.

While I agree the Princess DVDs aren't for everyone, I too bought the gift set from Costco. I was rather pleasantly surprised with them.

Princess Party - When I first saw this DVD being advertised, I gave a genuine eye roll and a "You've got to be kidding me" response. The whole Princess idea is blown way out of proportion in some cases. I thought this was one of them. However, I was happily surprised to find two (I’m guessing) Saturday Morning cartoons with Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid on this DVD (since I didn't read the review before hand, I didn't know about them until after I'd bought the 3-pack). I enjoyed both cartoons, though poorly animated. The rest of the DVD features a parent help section and games to play with groups of kids (or individually). The games are just tweaked versions of some classics: Mad Libs, Simon Says, Scavenger Hunt, Freeze Dance, etc. It’s a cute adaptation for kids, and I even ended up playing Belle’s Storytime (Mad Libs) a few times. The DVD-ROM version of the DVD contains printable coloring pages, Make Your Own invitations, Make Your Own Thank You Cards, recipes (which I’m considering trying if I have time). Overall, I’d say if you have a young girl in the house, or are a young girl at heart, it’s a DVD you may like if you can tolerate the slow introductions by a woman with a voice so sweet you’ll end up with cavities by the time you’re done.

Princess Stories- This was the whole reason for my buying the gift set. I had originally only wanted this DVD, and thought that Costco would have this DVD individually, what a blessing in disguise that they didn’t. But anyway…This DVD features the “How To Be A Princess” bonus feature. For those of you who didn’t see my response to this yesterday, I hear you, “Great, just what we need, Disney telling kids they need to become a Princess to mean anything in this world.” Wrong! The whole “How To Be A Princess” feature is merely a multiple choice quiz on proper etiquette. One of the questions are: “If you open a present in front of the person who gave it, and verbally thank them, do you need to send a thank you note afterwards?” The other bonus feature is how to make a charm bracelet…you know the kind, the cheap plastic ones you make with beads when you’re six. Something most little kids do. Finally, as the review said, the stories are Saturday Morning stories and the ‘new’ stories are just storyboard type captioned pictures and stills. Any animation in these stories is uber cheesy. Think Paper Mario without the intention of being paper. The stories are cute though, and I honestly think they should have animated them.

Princess Sing Along Songs-Personally, I simply LOVE Disney music, and while I only have one other Sing Along DVD (Very Merry Christmas…it has sentimental value), I thought it would be nice to own this too. This DVD includes songs from all of the most famous Disney movie (Lion King, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc) and even includes “Like Other Girls” from Mulan II, Sweet Wings of Love from The Three Musketeers, and If You Can Dream…If You Can Dream is a new song which is on each of the Princess DVDs (and is sung by one of the princesses in one of the ‘new’ stories in the Princess Stories DVD), supposedly sung by all of the Disney Princesses (“Together for an all new song!!!”) What it actually should be called is “A-new-song-sung-by-people-who-sound-kinda-like-the-original-voice-actor’s-but-not-enough-to-fool-you-set-to-clips-from-the-characters’-movies-while-they’re-singing-or-talking-and-fast-forwarded-or-slowed-down-to-fit-the-words-being-‘sung’.” I liked the song, but the ‘music video’ is horrendous. There’s also a Dance Along, which has versions of Put It Together (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo) by Brooke Allison, Beauty and the Beast by Jump 5, and Once Upon (Another Dream) by No Secrets I didn’t check this part of the DVD out, and I honestly have no intention of doing so, other than the Duff Sisters’ Siamese Cat Song Remake, Disney Mania can kiss my okole.

Actually, they ARE the original voice actors, except for Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Check the credits at the end; you'll see.

I suppose I should have been more specific, those were the Princesses I was talking about. Overall, the voices sound incredibly different, (But I'm tone deaf, so don't take my word for it) and Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty sound especially different to me...but I guess it's just my opinion then that they all sound different from the original movies.

As Luke mentioned in his wonderful review, it is mainly the style of singing that has changed, not the actual voices of the newer princesses.

Well, as I wrote, I wasn't talking about the newer princesses and I didn't (and with one exception, never have) read any of the reviews on Ultimate Disney, nor do I plan too. I'm not big on others opinions because I'd rather establish my own before hearing/reading others opinions, though it's amazing how many people on this fourm tend to find their opinions for even viewing some DVDs, I'd like to specify that this doesn't include Luke.
