I bought the BMW season one DVD set last week when it was released, but I'm having some buyers remorse.
I haven't opened it yet, and I've been trying to decide if I want to return it or not. Half way I do, half way I don't.
What do you guys think? If you bought the DVD set, did you like it?
Thanks.

As you can tell from my review, I quite enjoyed it! It's one of the most entertaining TV shows there is, and unlike other DVD sets of my favorite TV series, there are no problems with Disney's release. The episodes are in correct airdate order. There are no syndicated cuts or music changes. Each episode has chapter stops. Each disc has a "Play All" feature.
The Season 1 episodes have a distinct quality about them, and they're very, very good. The show gets even better, before it gets worse (Season 6), but there's not a single episode in Season 1 that disappoints me.
Then there are the audio commentaries, which are much easier to listen to than some other commentary tracks. It's great to revisit these early episodes with the cast, and it's funny to hear them recall making the show. I look forward to Season 2 and being able to actually see them now!
But I'd definitely open it if I were you. Having the show on DVD is so much better than having to rely on Disney Channel cuts, decaying VHS tapes, commercials and broadcast video quality. Plus the rewatchability factor here is great. I watched all the episodes in the span of 48 hours or so, in order to put together a timely review. I had seen all of the episodes before, and then I rewatched the 4 with commentaries. When it was all done, I wasn't the least bit tired of the show, I was looking to watch more.

 Two thumbs way, way up!

Hopefully, the future seasons will keep the same quality presentation and add more in the way of bonus features.

I loved season 1. This is when the show was at it's best, in my opinion. Cory is still a kid and the jokes are great. I was disapointed in the bonus feature of an episode from season 4. Since they got the cast for comentaries, couldn't they have done an interview and made a featurette? Anyways, can't wait for Season 2.

it definately is worth it if you're somewhat of a bmw fan. I got it towards the end of last week, and i've watched over half of the set and have NO complaints. THe only downside is probably lack of special features, but i'm sure they'll be released later....
Either way, it's your choice, you're the one who paid and will watch it. my opinion, however, is to go for it!

I agree this is an awesome set. I got it last night night and I have watched the first 16 episodes all which are great and have not lost any humor since 10 years ago when I first watched it. Have not made it to any of the bonus features yet though. But I would vote for you to keep it unless you have something else in mind you think you will enjoy more.

It seems like you all enjoyed the first season a lot. However, I returned it today after class. I used the money to buy The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, which I was planning on buying anyway. I got back the difference of the two, and personally, I think I made the right decision.
I spent much of my youth following the hijinx of Cory, Shawn, and Topanga...however, I can't see spending so much money on a show that's still on the Disney Channel all the time. It is a show I would want my kids to watch (when the time comes), but I'll hold off, I hope it's one of the shows that is in reruns for years to come (along with Saved by the Bell, Full House and Home Improvement)...however, like I said, in my current financial situation, I just can't stomach spending so much on a show that's still on TV that I'm only nostalgicly fond of. Thank you everyone for your input, maybe I'll buy it later, but at present, I think I'll pass.

Actually, the show aired in 1993, so it's been 11 years, (unless you started watching in the second season), goodness only knows why there's a "10 year anniversary" seal on it! If anyone knows, please PM me, it's been driving me nuts. Did Disney just forget last year and decide to play pretend?

Well they fooled me! I did not rember exactly what year it started but I just accepted the information that was on the package. But I did watch it from the series first airing back in the golden years of TGIF!!![/b]

I'm still wondering if I should buy Boy Meets World because I like the show very much but the first season is lame. (IMO)
I really want to buy it it's a good price and all but maybe next month or something because I really want Star Wars.
I don't want to hurt anyones feelings expecially Luke's feelings so I might buy it in October.

My 2,000 post!!!!
Yay for me!!!!

Between all my school work and having to share the dorm TV, it took me a week to watch season 1. I agree with Luke, though, in that it could easily be done in two days without getting old. This show is simply fantastic, and I think that the first season offers some truly great episodes. They're all very good, but a few stand out as not only the best of the season, but as some of the best episodes in the entire series:
Corey's Alternative Friends
The Fugitive
Boy Meets Girl
I Dream Of Feeny
The bonus episode also happens to be one of the series' best. Before watching it, I thought including a random episode from later in the show seemed quite pointless. After watching all of season one and then the bonus episode, though, I changed my mind- it was a great episode to really compare how the show, the characters, and the actors changed in just 3 years. (If you were watching the show for the first time, though, it would be a slight spoiler).
The commentary was pretty good, too. I actually laughed pretty hard at some of it. The inclusion of Matthew Lawrence didn't end up seeming too out of place as I had expected. Well, it did seem out of place, but they didn't try to hide that fact, so it made for some funny commentary. My only problem with the commentary is that while it was funny, the self-deprication almost made it sound like they look at the show without much care. When I compare this to the commentary on Friends, for example, it makes me wonder if they know what they have in this show. (Also, Ben Savage and Will Friedle were fairly quiet on the tracks, which is funny, as they are the two Matthews brothers).
Seeing Minkus and the original (and WAY better) Morgan is great, too. It's likely that many of you may have forgotten that some of the beloved episodes of BMW actually came from season 1. I know I had forgotten about a few of these, as well.
Seeing the original title sequence again was just wonderful.
Anyone know how well it's been selling? When I went to get it at Best Buy on the Friday after its release, it wasn't on the shelf and the employees didn't even know what it was. They had to go dig it out of a stock box in the back. However, I went to a different Best Buy today, and it was on the TV Shows Comedy shelf, with only 2 or 3 copies left.
I'm SO pleased that Season 2 is only a couple of months away (even if it does come on a very busy DVD day), as I'm really wanting to watch them now that I'm done with season 1. This was a solid release, good job, Disney!

The original Morgan was way better. Not that the second Morgan was bad, but she was a little too old to be cute funny, whereas the original Morgan was just funny!
As for how well it's selling. Well more people bought it through this Disney DVD site than The Three Musketeers or The Lion King II Special Edition. Surely, our slice of the population isn't big enough to give you information about the whole nation. But it's been in the Top 400 sellers at Amazon since around the middle of last month at least.
Even with poor prices and a lot of people thinking they'll pass on the first season and get the others, I'm guessing at the $50 SRP, Disney will be content enough with sales. Hence, we're getting Season 2 so soon. (I really hope that doesn't get delayed.) Another thing to take into account is with Boy Meets World, you don't have music clearance issues, or high profile cast royalties. If the sales aren't as spectacular as Friends season sets, there's undoubtedly a greater profit for Disney on each BMW sold than there is for Warner on each Friends set sold.
I hope we get that "Yesterday and Today" featurette at some point, but at least the video commentary will be a step up from just audio commentary. The audio commentaries were very funny, as Aaron pointed out. Hope we get more in Season 2, which brings Mr. Turner, Harley, Frankie, and Joey. Whoo hoo!

				At this rate, we maybe we'll get a BMW release once each season! (S1- 8/04, S2- 11/04, S3 - 2/05, S4 - 5/05, S5 - 8/05, S6 - 11/06, S7 - 2/06).
That is probably a little too ambitious, but it would be nice!
Luke, do you know why they changed Morgans?

I've heard a couple of stories. The more likely one is that the younger Morgan just didn't want to do the show anymore, for some reason. Less likely ones are that she was injured really badly in a car accident and had to be replaced. The original Morgan's still doing some acting these days, so who knows? I hope they'll address it in one of the future commentaries. They were on that subject in the Season 4 commentary already...and they left us hanging!
Oh, and the seasons won't come quite as fast as that. From what I've heard, though, Season 3 will be out next spring. April's the month they are/were looking at.

I would have bought it the day it came out but Im kind of low on money so i figured ill wait for my b-day and hope someone buys it for me! But if it werent for that I would have bought it right then and there. I really liked the show, and I think the sales numbers on this one will really affect Disneys Tv on DVD market. MORE TV on DVD PLEASE!!!!

Speaking of recasting in sitcoms, does anyone remember when Sara Chalke returned to Rosanne and the characters made a few comments about Becky's 'leaving' and 'returning' during her first episode back?
Anyway...if you guys want to get Boy Meets World, consider Costco, they have it for twenty-nine dollars!
