O.K., I know this site is about DVDs. More importantly, I think, this site is devoted to Disney so I thought I'd share some info on upcoing Disney projects for the year of 2004. Some of this may not be new, and some things you may not have heard yet, but here's what I could dig up. If anyone else has any info feel free to add. Here it goes:

January 30th, 2004

'The Miracle'

Starring: Kurt Russell, Eddie Cahill, Patricia Clarkson, Patrick O'Brien Dempsey, Noah Emmerich, Eric-Peter Kaiser, Michael Mantenuto, Kenneth Mitchell, Nathan West

Storyline: This is the true story of coach Herb Brooks (Russell), who in 1980 had the distinction of having been the last player cut from the U.S. hockey team the last time the team won the Gold at the Olympics (in 1960). Brooks got his chance at being part of a medal-winning team, however, when he led the U.S. hockey team to victory over the Soviets (who had won the medal the last four times: 1976, 1972, 1968, and 1964 since that 1960 U.S. win) at the 1980 Winter Olympics (at Lake Placid) despite overwhelming odds. For a country still entangled in a decades-long "Cold War" with the U.S.S.R., the sports victory was seen as patriotic and symbollic of "our side" beating "their side".

February 6th, 2004

'Teacher's Pet: The Movie'

Starring: (voices of) Nathan Lane, Shaun Flemming, Rob Paulsen, Debra Jo Rupp, Wallace Shawn, David Ogden Stiers, Jerry Stiller

Storyline: This is the story of a dog, Spot (Lane), that is so curious about the world that he has taught himself how to read, and sneaks to school with his master, Leonard (Flemming), where he poses as a human, Scott, so he can expand his awareness and education. Other than that, not much is currently known about this feature film version of the TV show, except that it will be song-heavy, many of which will spoof songs from other Disney feature films. David Ogden Stiers provides the voice of Leonard's cat; Stiller provides the voice of a bird. One rumored premise is that the film may take place during summer vacation, and involve a vacation trip to Florida (possibly Walt Disney World?).

Unknown 2004

'Emporer Zehnder'

Starring: Richard Gere (he's the only known cast member yet)

Storyline: Set in Antarctica, this epic romance tells the story of Bruno P. Zehnder (Gere), a restless photographer of penguins who struggled with the pressures of expressing his art within the most strenuous of circumstances, along with a personal battle to keep Antarctica free and pure.

NOTE: The true story of photographer Bruno P. Zehnder (1945-1997), based upon a 17 page article, "Death Among the Emperors", by Ned Zeman, in Vanity Fair (January, 2000). The "P" stands for "Penguin" (the title refers to emperor penguins). Zehnder died during his 22nd expedition to Antarctica, during a blizzard, doing what he loved best... photographing penguins.

November 5th, 2004

'The Incredibles'

Starring: (the voices believe it or not, have not been released yet even though a trailer has!)

Storyline: This film's story revolves around the dysfunctional family problems that come up when everyone works together as a superteam called the Incredibles. Specifically, the Incredibles are a family of superheroes trying to live a quiet life in the suburbs (placed there by the Witness Protection program to hide them from one of their supervillains) who find themselves called into action to save the world, led by the pater familias, Mr. Incredible, whose better days as a superhero appear to be behind him.

NOTE: The trailer from Finding Nemo is Online at Pixar's Website supposedly. Here's a link for the Quicktime movie:

Unknown 2004 (summer)

'Home On The Range'

Starring: (voices of) Judi Dench, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Jessica Parker, Randy Quaid, David Burnham, Ja'Net DuBois, Gregory Jbara.

Storyline: Set in the wild west, this is the story of a herd of cows who, um, herd together to save the farm/ranch. This is the story of a family farm inhabited by a widow (Parker), her young daughter, and various and sundry farm animals. The widow owes 1000.00 mortgage on the farm and has no way to pay for it, and the cows get wind of the trouble. Fearing that they'll be sold to the local meat- packing plant, the cows, led by Dame Judi Dench (!) seek to find a way to earn the money. Enter the family horse, played by Cuba Gooding, Jr. He used to belong to a bounty hunter, and knows a great way to save the farm. You see, he's heard that in the nearby town, there's a bandit afoot (Randy Quaid), with a 1000.00 bounty on his head.

NOTE: Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Aladdin) is returning to write all the songs. This will be a full-blown musical. One where the characters sing and everything. I don't think disney characters have broken into song sing Mulan.

FURTHER NOTE: Disney Plans on Revamping Frontierland and incorporating attractions based on this film it it!

That's all for now, my fingers are getting tired. (whew!) :eye:

2004 is shaping up to be a really great year! I'm hoping that Home on the Range will be a good movie. I've heard rumors that it is suffering from major story problems, but hopefully by next year it'll be a great movie.

Okay, I guess I'm going to sound stupid, but is Kurt Russell the same Kurt Russell that was in all those 70s Disney movies? (Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, Now you see him, now you don't, Strongest Man in the World, Barefoot Executive, etc.)

The Incredibles looks really good. Hopefully it'll be as good as Finding Nemo (my favorite!)

Is it true about all those awful sequels coming out next year (Bambi, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch)? I haven't heard any confirmation about them yet.

Yes, it is the same Kurt Russel. Ironically, he's managed to get into a disney movie at least once every decade since his debut in the 60s.

I will look further into the direct to video stuff and post later as to what I can look up.

See the first post of this thread for the DTV dates

Ignore the rest, it quickly turns into a sequel bashing thread.

Thanks for the link 2099net! I cannot believe they are going to do another Emperor's New Groove. I don't know how that will come off. I think it was fine the way they ended it. Though I could never have enough of Yzma and Kronk! The new Mickey movie should be good, especially if Pete and Miney and Daisy are in it.

So disneyfella what movies were Kurt in during the 80s and 90s?

Actually, I don't think Kurt did "Disney" movies during the '90s, but he did do "Captain Ron" and "Tombstone" for the non-Disney branches like Touchstone. Maybe I'm overlooking something?

His '80s Disney credit is doing the voice of adult Copper from "Fox and the Hound."

It's cool that he's doing another Disney film, and this one sounds very good. The Richard Gere one, on the other hand, does not.

I can't wait to see Home On The Range I think it sounds like a really cool little film. Its a new setting for Disney and so the animators can go wild with it. I think the bad rumours are just coming from people who want Disney and/or 2D animated movies to fail.

Matty, I agree, Home on the Range sounds really good. I bet you're right. I personally want 2D movies to live on, because only having 3D animation would be boring.

Luke, thanks, I forgot about Fox and the Hound. I guess disneyfella forgot that he didn't do a "Disney" film in the 90s? I'm excited for Kurt to return.

Yzma and Kronk are a freakin' riot...especially Kronk.
But I too am a bit dismayed by the fact that they feel the need to tarnish their image in a sequel.

Hmmm...my love of the original might compel me to check that one out but I'm very skeptical. Kronk was a troop leader for the Junior Squirrels and Yzma was a crankly kitten so I wonder where this one can go.

Couldn't agree more.

Home on the Range because it involves cows (and musical cows at that!), and Incredibles just because it is Pixar.

Shaping up to be an even better year than this one (which has been pretty good so far...).

Since everyone has so much interest in Home On The Range, I thought I'd post a few pics captured from a preview shown at an international animation festival. This is my first time post a pic, so let's hope it works.

.....no they didn't work.....does anyone know how to post pictures? they are in .jpg format i think.

Comments on "Teacher's Pet: The Movie"
MPAA Rating: PG (for some mildly crude humor)

Nathan Lane, Shaun Flemming will be in The Lion King 1 1/2
Jerry Stiller is also in The Lion King 1 1/2

David Ogden Stiers was in Lilo and Stitch, Beauty and The Beast and Spirited Away

Cool, huh?

The only one that really interests me right now is The Incredibles. Home on the Range might be worth seeing, but I'll wait to hear more first.

I think that the same goes for me, though I think Home on the Range will be good.

Cogsworth in B & B, the Archdeacon in Hunchback, Harcourt in Atlantis, Jumba in Lilo & Stitch, Governor Ratcliffe in Pocahontas.

Plus in live action movies, the Russian mafia don Jovanovich in "Jungle 2 Jungle" and the race president in "Iron Will." Of course, a lot of people still know him from "MASH."

He's like the Sterling Holloway of this generation, though, in terms of most-frequently appearing Disney voice actor.

Ahh, that's really neat! I loved him as Cogsworth. How's Harcourt again? (Sorry, only seen Atlantis once, and the sequel once)
