DVD set features the complete first season of the action-packed show. Fans will discover a
bonus audio commentary from the filmmakers on the pilot episode, an original network affiliate
pitch with creator introduction, and “Gathering of the Gargoyles,” a behind-the-scenes special
program.

<i>“Gargoyles”</i> is the story of the fantastic, ancient creatures that once guarded a medieval Scottish
fortress, and who now come to life at night to protect the city of Manhattan from evil. Legions
of loyal fans continue to follow “Gargoyles,” and the series features star voice talents including

Even though I'm not a Gargoyles fan, I'm glad this is getting released because if it sells well enough, perhaps Disney will explore other season box sets of their animated shows such as Duck Tales or The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

I'm very excited by this release!

I've enjoyed Gargoyles since the beginning and am looking forward to seeing all the episodes again. Should be a great trip! I only hope that some money was invested in cleaning up the prints.

I'm a big time Gargoyles fan and very excited about the relase of Gargoyles Season One.

New Adventures of WTP are available outside the US in several single volumes, and I doubt they will get released in Season sets in the US...

...but I do agree that this bodes well for the future of animated series on DVD. At least the shorter series anyways.

I never really got into "Gargoyles," but I agree with Disneykid. This release could pave the way for other great Disney cartoons from the 80's and 90's to be brought to DVD.

When will Disney send in the Gargoyles Season 1 Art Cover and Art Disc.

"Almost" is a bit of a stretch. We still haven't seen artwork for titles coming out November 16, and that's three weeks before Gargoyles.

This show is great I used to watch it when I was younger and now I can't wait to have it in December.

I never realized so many of the star trek actors did voices in it....was that just a fluke or is there some backstory there?

I remember watching this show as a kid and liking it. I just didn't have the opportunity to watch every episode, probably due to time-slot reasons.

There were a total of 65 episodes of gargoyles created. Season 1 had 13 episodes. Seaon 2 had 52 episodes. The Goliath Chronicles was also a spin off from Gargoules.

There were 3 seasons. The first season contained 13 episodes and the second season had 52. The third season was entitled "The Goliath Chronicles" and also ran for 13 episodes. However, barely anyone from the original team worked on it, which resulted in shoddy animation and even shoddier story-telling.

The DVD artwork actually looks quite nice. I'm also glad it's been confirmed that there'll be commentary for the first five episodes (I was afraid it was just the first), since they comprise the opening "movie."

The ad again brings up why the DVD is being released in the first place- a really strong, loyal fanbase. Also, Gargoyles fans are more organized (witness the annual convention), whereas I haven't seen any centralized Ducktales community (correct me if I'm wrong). I think that to see our other beloved cartoons on DVD, we really have to let Disney know that we're willing and able to buy them.

Also interesting that they mentioned the numerous Star Trek people who have done VO on Gargoyles. I'm not sure if it was ever explained, but I sorta just assumed that they just referenced one another (although I don't believe Voyager was on when Kate Mulgrew did her voice-over work on Gargoyles). I think Patrick Stewart was one of the only TNG cast members who didn't provide a voice (apparently he was too expensive), which is a shame because I think he would have made a perfect MacBeth (of course, John-Rhys Davis does a mean MacBeth, too). The creator alludes to one or two other characters they were considering for him, but for the life of me I can't figure them out.

It was an awesome high quality series; escpecially for an American animation show. Don't misunderstand me but you know that most Americans jus see it as kid stuff.

Nope, the series never had a proper ending. But - if the Gargoyles DVDs sell REALLY well, the creator, Greg Weisman, has stated that Disney may very well begin production of the series again - as well as the possibility of a live-action film! O_O So buy that Season 1 DVD!!

As the cover art (or art cover, if you will) hasn't been formally released by Disney yet, it's still subject to change as with other ads.

Yes, technically it had 3- one in each season. Each season finale pretty much wrapped up the whole season's arc and could have served as a nice series finale. Personally, I thought season 2's finale was a fitting conclusion, but then Disney had to make Goliath Chronicles...
