On the Princess Diaries 2 thread people have been saying how much it costs to see a movie here and there...so I got to wondering how much everyone pays to see a movie in theaters (no Bargin Mats or list them individually.)
Here in Honolulu, it's $8.50 per person regular price and $4.50 bargin. We also have a 50 cent theater but it's so crowded that I never go there.

yeah where i live, we used to have a $0.50 theater but now they have raised the price to a dollar and you have to be 18 and older to see a rated R movie there (since the theater doesn't show movies rated NC-17) the other theaters charge somewhere from 6 to 8 dollars where i live.

Ours is fifty cents before five pm and a dollar after. You have to be 17 to see an R rated movie at any theater here, or accompanied by a parent or guardian

Where I live it's $6.00 for a matinee showing and $8.00 for a night one. Price isn't an issue with me because I usually go the movies on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, therefore I get the matinee prices. I usually only go to the movies at night when I'm out with friends or other family members.

Where I live it's $7.00 for a matinee showing and $9.00 for a night showing. I usually go early so it could cost less then the showing at the night.

Adult prices (don't know child/senior):
$7.25 for an evening movie ($6/students at the better theatre near my college)
$5.25 for a matinee (before 6:00pm)
$2.50 for the brand new release discount theater
$1.50 for the kinda new release discount theater

Here in Australia, films for adults cost $14.80 AU (or $10.50 US).
Student/pension/concession rates are lower.
Plus there is also what I like to call Tight Arse Tuesday (or in the US, Tight Ass Tuesday), where everyone is a flat $10 ($7 US).
There is no distinction between matinee and night session in the majority of cinemas (being large chains), but some of the smaller cinemas do that. They also have lower rates generally.

Here where I live, there are 2 cinema's (theaters), one is where you watch the latest movies, the other is a discount one. The discount one gets the "new" movies after the other one. Wow, I hope that makes sense
Reading Cinemas = $9.00 for Student (That's what I am

)
Moncrieff Theaters = $6.00 for Student
The prices keep going up, it's terrible =(
