Voted off so far...
Round 1.1 - Victory Through Air Power, In Search Of The Castaways, The One & Only Genuine Original Family Band, Popeye
Round 1.2 - Return To Oz, Herbie Goes Bananas, Never Cry Wolf, The Cat From Outer Space
Round 1.3 - Tron, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Benji The Hunted, Blackbeard's Ghost
Round 1.4 - The Gnome Mobile, The Reluctant Dragon, Return From Witch Mountain, The Ugly Dachshund
Round 1.5 - Son Of Flubber, Pete's Dragon, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, The Sign Of Zorro
Round 1.6 - Davy Crockett and the River Pirates, Mary Poppins

Even with the auditions, there are 108 remaining live-action films that survived the auditions. Therefore, we'll be dividing the game into three rounds, each of which will be further divided into sub-rounds. Round 1 will concern movies made prior to 1990 (I had to make the slight change from the site's grouping, which breaks at 1980, to even out the two groupings). Round 2 will concern movies made from 1990 to the present day. The winners of the first two rounds will go head-to-head in Round 3. Got it? Good. :)

Live-action films have already been defined for us by Luke's pages for them here on the site. Films made prior to 1980, all of which are covered in Round 1, can be found here (complete list). The complete list of films made between 1980 and 1990, also covered in Round 1, can be found at the bottom of this list.

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days and vote for the live-action Disney film that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least. Everyone is welcome!!

At the end of the round, I'll come on here and announce which films got voted off, and a new thread will start for the next round. This gets to be a lot of fun, especially when it gets down to the wire (as you hopefully know from the last two games).

You can talk about your reasons for your vote, but I ask that you put the full title of what you're voting for in bold letters so that it's easy for me to count them all in a hurry.

There are more titles in Round 1 of this game than there were in all of the Animated Classics Survivor. Therefore, for Round 1, we'll follow this plan: Four movies will be cast off in each of the first 5 sub-rounds (the four with the most votes to leave). After that, two films will leave in each sub-round, until we reach the top 10. In all, that should make for 52 sub-rounds in round 1. Make sense? The winner of Round 1 will square off against the winner of Round 2 for the ultimate winner, which will join the reigning champs, The Lion King and Toy Story 2.

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these 30 movies:

Song of the South
So Dear To My Heart
Treasure Island
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier
Now You See Him, Now You Don't
Old Yeller
The Shaggy Dog
Darby O'Gill and the Little People
Pollyanna
Swiss Family Robinson
The Absent-Minded Professor
The Parent Trap (1961)
Babes in Toyland
The Incredible Journey
That Darn Cat! (1965)
The Happiest Millionaire
The Love Bug
The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Herbie Rides Again
The Strongest Man in the World
Escape to Witch Mountain
The Apple Dumpling Gang
The Shaggy D.A.
Freaky Friday
Candleshoe
One Magic Christmas
Flight of the Navigator
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Voting ends at midnight (EASTERN TIME) on Friday, July 30th.

Just a little correction, Aaron. Now You See Him is still in. River Pirates is not.

I am shocked that Mary Poppins got enough votes to get kicked off. I'm assuming that either these people have never seen this movie or else they have some very strange issues going on with either Julie Andrews or Dick Van Dyke or both. Maybe they're jealous of DVD's apparent grace as he ages.

As it is, my next vote is for Herbie Rides Again

Yeah I don't think there is a whole lot of room left for sequels, good pick but might as well get rid of a Dexter movie too.

You're right, Luke. I just got a little mixed up, sorry. Thanks for pointing it out, b/c it may not have noticed.

It's stunning and-- I'll say it-- ridiculous that Mary Poppins left. It doesn't deserve it, and was an innocent victim of somewhat shrewd Survivoring. It's really a stain on the whole game, in some respects. That's how strongly I feel about that film, and the extent to which it deserves to win. It's just a shame that I wasn't here tonight to counteract the alliance.

Anyways, rant over.

Eight films remain that I haven't seen. Since what's probably the weakest film from the remainder that I have seen--Herbie Rides Again--will probably be out anyway, I vote for...So Dear To My Heart.

Frankly, I'm glad Pete's Dragon derserved to leave. It's just not that great. But Poppins deserved number 2 (won't say what I think should be number one for safety purpose :D ), and Bedknobs and Broomsticks still being here is just not acceptable.

Oops - my wife changed the log in when I wasnt looking. This post should be by JJJ.

Aaron - This is Survivor, I don't really see it being about getting the concensus favorite to win. I think Luke's countdown did that. I see this as a game about getting your favorite movie to the winner's circle. Outplay, outwit and outlast I believe is the tag line.

Should Mary Poppins have gone where it did? No way, in my mind it surely deserved a top 10 spot. But myself and others believed there was no way to get rid of it once we were down to one on one battles by that time.

Frankly, I am amazed it worked. There were others who were supposed to play a part but did not vote. In fact, only one other member of the alliance, MMB voted.

And to those who tried so hard to save Mary Poppins in the last round - what are you voting for now? I look at the list now and do not see a clear cut favorite. In my mind, all the following are capable of winning.

Treasure Island
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier
Old Yeller
Swiss Family Robinson
The Love Bug
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Escape to Witch Mountain

Maybe some others that I don't give enough respect to.

Indeed- everything was within the rules. But the Survivor rules are, after all, designed to be pointedly unfair, so as to bring on entertainment. Just as the tactics are all part of the game, so is disappointment, which I think the majority of members share with me.

Now that Poppins is gone- which was clearly deserving of the #1 spot, imo- even above Pete's Dragon, if I'm being honest (though Pete deserved #2 ), no movie can really compare. There are 2, maybe 3, films remaining that I would be comfortable with giving the top spot. We'll see how it goes.

This is atrocious. When The Reluctant Dragon got voted off so early, that was pretty bad, but Mary Poppins is a true classic (and the one I wanted to win in the end). Now I don't know what to vote for. I'll just randomly vote for something that has a bad title...

The Shaggy Dog

DACP - actually I want to thank you. I thought it was going to be impossible to get rid of Poppins last round until I got home about 8:45 pacific and saw your post with the counts. I figured out Mary Poppins 2+2 switched votes = 4 and Now You See Him 5-2 switched votes was 3. Thanks bud, the (former) alliance owes you.

Just out of curiosity, what film did you want to win that you think is better than Mary Poppins?
