Okay, I admit, I own both soundtracks to Tarzan and Brother Bear...I just love Phil Collins and Disney together! Does anyone kno if there are any plans for Phil Collins to do another Disney movie? I wish he would have done the music for Finding Nemo, I can only imagine. I hope he does another (or five, or ten) Disney movies. They really do well together. In my opinion anyway.

I also really like him. His Tarzan songs were better than the BB ones IMO.
I don't know anything about plans for new movies. I hope he stays.

I, too love what he did in Tarzan and Brother Bear. I wish he had sung all of the songs in Brother Bear though. In one of the documentaries on the DVD they say that they didn't want it to sound too much like Tarzan, but to me, sounding like Tarzan would be great!
But as far as I know he's not signed on to do any more Disney films at the moment.

Phil Collins is one of my favorite artists of all time. I couldn't believe that he wished to not have any of his songs from Brother Bear nominated for the Best Song Academy Award. I found out he was nominated 2 other times before he won an Oscar for Tarzan. The two other nominations were for "Two Hearts" from the movie Buster and "Against All Odds" from the movie Against All Odds. I saw he won a Golden Globe for the song "Two Hearts" but I was suprised that Phil' Collins's song lost to the Little Mermaid's "Under the Sea". oh well. I believe that Phil Collins had no other plans to do more music for another Disney film.

Lol I totay agree there is something about this man's voice that is so magical and inspiring. I would not mind him doing another soundtrack very soon Jeezzzzz that would get me to go see a CGI film a lot faster than anything esle would

Hmmm. Guess I'm alone here.
My name's Aaron, and I don't like Phil Collins.
He's not a bad singer, nor does he strike me as terrible, either. To me, he's just ok. But that's just my opinion. Like him or not, I don't like having one artist provide every song in a film. I'm even more bothered that the same artist sang every song in 2 of Disney's films. I sincerely hope he doesn't came back for any more, and that goes for any artist who may be signed to sing an entire soundtrack.
I do, however, LOVE "You'll Be In My Heart." And yes, I realize that Tina Turner broke up the monotany for a few seconds.
And exception to these comments lies with things like The Bodyguard. In that case, Whitney Houston stars in the film and it makes sense. And even thing, she only sings like 5 songs on the soundtrack. Ditto for Waiting To Exhale.

I too really enjoy his Disney music....It's just really nice, and I too would like another Disney movie with the music done by him....but not yet. Brother Bear was too recent. In a few years though, it would be great

I'll be in that support group!
I also can't stand the Philster. As Aaron said, it isn't as though he is BAD - just exceedingly average.
Sure, what he did for those two films was fine, but if someone else had been there instead of him, it would have worked just as well. I can't say that I think he has added anything to a Disney film, at least in the same way other composers/artists have done.

Indeed. Take Usher, for example. Now I'm no Usher groupie either, but he nailed "You'll Be In My Heart," just when we thought it couldn't be any better. I guess there's always a better singer, but the point is that he just isn't deserving of so much praise. Loomis, I'm glad that someone agrees with me here. This may be a first- certainly a milestone for the not-a-fan club.

Oh well. I can understand if some people don't like Phil Collins. I never heard of him until I saw the movie Tarzan. After that, my dad let me borrow one of his CDs which was Phil Collins's "Hits" and after listening to that CD, I soon came to like Phil Collins's music. I also like him when he was part of the band Genesis.

Now that would be an idea Usher doing the music I could see it now a smooth soundtrack and music videos with dance brakes or even in a movie Nice idea. Even though I am sure its not what you meant its just me thinking out loud.

Personally, I'd rather hear music composed by Hans Zimmer than music sung by Phil Collins.

I must join with Aaron and Loomis. Phil Collins is OK. He din't really add much special. And like Aaron said, I don't like how he sang every song; sometimes he voice just doesn't fit into a scene. Would you all rather have Elton John singing every song in TLK.
I like how his type of music worked with Tarzan. You know, how it's not meshed into the story but rather over the story as if Collins was watching the movie from above. Eg: How Koda starts singing "I'm on my way" and suddenly Collins is chanting away. It's like having Elton John singing Hakuna Matata.
I just don't think it was necessary for every song in Brother Bear to stop the chracters from talking while they were doing their thing. Eg: it fit while Kenai first arrived at the Salmon Run.
It'd be nice if Collins was only writing. Like, TLK didn't have Elton singing every song. I personally liked how Home On the Range mixed music, with chracters singing and backgroung "Collins" type music.
In the end, Collins is... meh. I think if they made another film with Collins and his type music, he would be overstaying my welcome!
