Disney Channel Original Movie?

Can somebody help me with a Disney Channel Movie title? All I can remember was it was about a boy who had devorced parents. His dad starts dating a woman. The kid is a huge fan of monsters. And it turns out that the dad's girlfriend is a green, scaley monster. Can any body give me any information about this forgotten Disney Channel movie?

Stepmonster. The dad was played by Alan Thicke, and to kill the monster, you had to play the violin (silly, isn't it?).

No. I mean the only way to kill me is to play the violin as well. Oops
