Well, Aladdin is coming to I-MAX(in January?) and I plan to be there, to see it. This will be my first I-MAX movie, movie. I saw some marine documentary of something, years ago, but this will be the first entertainment feature that I will see. I have been to the Uptown in Washington, which is a giant theatre, that only plays one movie at a time. I don't know if this will be similar or not. I have not seen Aladdin in so long, I have been fasting it, along with TLK, which I actually saw like 2 years ago, and Sleeping Beauty. It has been many many years since I have seen either SB or A. Anyway, I am looking forward to it!

Is anyone else planning to see Aladdin in the I-MAX?

Has anyone seen another movie in the I-MAX? How much is General admission, I would guess like $10 a ticket, hope it isn't more. And is it really a great experience to blow normal theatres away?

I saw The Lion King in IMAX, and it was awesome. Having not seen in a few years made it even sweeter, in some ways. I'd like to see Aladdin, but it's not as essential to me as Lion King, which I hadn't even caught in theaters.

Prices, of course, depend on the theater, but I think in general, it's a couple of dollars more than regular theatrical showings.

Will it be in 3-D?

no it's suppose to be the 2-D version. A 3-D has not been made yet.

You should have gone to see Episode II IMAX, it was at the Smithsonian and only cost $6.50

Yeah, I really did want to see it, but diddn't get the chance to.

Maerj, do you live in Baltimore? You should go to the Uptown, it's in Washington, but that's not that far away...

I saw the rereleases of episodes4,5,6 there Harry Potter and a few others I can't remember. It is not I-MAX, but cool all the same.

Hopefully Aladdin will be the start of something fpr me. Man I really wish I had seen Episode II, but oh well...

Nope, I live a lil bit north of Philadelphia, PA. I like going to Baltimore, inner harbor, and DC when I can. Inner Habor is always a lot of fun with the restaurants and the entertainment they have there over the summer. The aquarium is pretty cool too.

shouldnt disney have released somthing by now, and when does it come out(christmas ), cuz i thought disney was releasing the young black stallion on christmas

We missed The Lion King on IMAX, which is too bad because our daughetr loves LK2: Simba's Pride. We have seen a couple IMAX films though...The Living Sea (with a soundtrack done by Sting) and something else. It's a fantastic experience.

We will NOT miss Aladdin.

If i'm not mistaken the aspect ratio of an IMAX movie is 1.44:1 the latest Disney movies are 1.66:1 or 1.85:1 Do they get letterboxed in any way or do they just get there sides chopped off? I think I've heard something about re-animating a few scenes in order to fit the IMAX aspect ratio.

I'd like to see Fantasia, Pinocchio and Snow White on IMAX They fit the aspect ratio better

depends on you IMAX theather, some show Pan & Scan other show letterboxed with black bars top and bottom. i've seen Fantasia 2000, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King IMAX!!!!!!! cant wait for young black stallion and Aladdin!

Every film I have seen so far converted to Imax has "filled out the screen." With one notable exception, Matrix Reloaded had the black bars, but they weren't that noticeable.

There's definite cropping. I saw F2K on IMAX after I had owned the DVD for a good six months, and I noticed tighter framing from the cropping. The Lion King also filled the screen like Terry mentioned, which also meant some cropping from 1.66:1 to the 1.44ish ratio. It's a tradeoff that I'm willing to accept only because the IMAX film experience is so terrific.

Well, I will go see the film, no doubt... but I won't be as hyped for it as Lion King... TLK ROCKS!

Oh, and ticket price wise... it varies... It shouldn't be more than 10 bucks, but no less that 6.50!

is $10 here! and if you buy late tickets for a show that already started like 10 min is $9
