Live-Action SURVIVOR Round 1.1

The auditions are over and we're all set to embark on what promises to be a very fun (and very lengthy) game- Live Action SURVIVOR!

Even with the auditions, there are 108 remaining live-action films that survived the auditions. Therefore, we'll be dividing the game into three rounds, each of which will be further divided into sub-rounds. Round 1 will concern movies made prior to 1990 (I had to make the slight change from the site's grouping, which breaks at 1980, to even out the two groupings). Round 2 will concern movies made from 1990 to the present day. The winners of the first two rounds will go head-to-head in Round 3. Therefore, this is Round 1.1. Got it? Good. :)

Live-action films have already been defined for us by Luke's pages for them here on the site. Films made prior to 1980, all of which are covered in Round 1, can be found here (complete list). The complete list of films made between 1980 and 1990, also covered in Round 1, can be found at the bottom of this list.

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days and vote for the live-action Disney film that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least. Everyone is welcome!!

At the end of the round, I'll come on here and announce which films got voted off, and a new thread will start for the next round. This gets to be a lot of fun, especially when it gets down to the wire (as you hopefully know from the last two games).

You can talk about your reasons for your vote, but I ask that you put the full title of what you're voting for in bold letters so that it's easy for me to count them all in a hurry.

There are more titles in Round 1 of this game than there were in all of the Animated Classics Survivor. Therefore, for Round 1, we'll follow this plan: Four movies will be cast off in each of the first 5 sub-rounds (the four with the most votes to leave). After that, two films will leave in each sub-round, until we reach the top 10. In all, that should make for 52 sub-rounds in round 1. Make sense? The winner of Round 1 will square off against the winner of Round 2 for the ultimate winner, which will join the reigning champs, The Lion King and Toy Story 2.

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these 52 movies:

The Reluctant Dragon
Victory Through Air Power
Song of the South
So Dear To My Heart
Treasure Island
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier

This is going to be tricky, having not seen a number of these.

But I'll vote for Victory Through Air Power, simply because it's about a polar opposite from what I envision the winner to be, which is a good Disney film that can entertain the whole family. While VTAP has its historical value and it remains fascinating, it's more like vintage propaganda than a typical live action Disney film.

Victory through Air Power for me too.

I would rather have Victory through peaceful means thank you.

Well, I am chaning my vote to
In Search of the Castaways to save Never Cry Wolf. Gee, I saw it as a Kid and have no idea what is objectionable about it. What a wonderfully shot movie, and gives children an insight into nature.

I've only seen a few of them, so I'll just agree with people that vote something off I haven't seen. Victory Through Air Power

Well it's a big list, and would be absourd if we each voted for something different, so I'll just agree with Luke and vote off everyone's favourite Disney propaganda film, Victory Through Air Power

Well, hopefully at least 4 people vote for something different. I haven't seen Victory, but I have a feeling it will definitely be one of the four to go. Therefore, I think I'll cast my vote for another of the handful on the list that I haven't seen: In Search Of The Castaways. I might end up changing my mind, who knows. There's definitely a barrier between half of these movies or so.

I'll have to agree with what's been said about Victory Through Air Power. I haven't seen it, and I'm sure it'd make for a fascinating viewing experience, but I really don't want this representing the family of classic live action Disney.

Well I have actually seen all of these films except for "Victory through Airpower" And I am not one to vote off something I have not seen so I will have to go with one of the ones that I have seen so I choose "Never Cry Wolf." I did enjoy this film but it is definatley not one I would watch over and over nor is it one that I would want to put in for my future children to watch. Sure if they want to watch it is there choice but it is not soimething I would reccomend to many people. So I say farewell to "<b>Never Cry Wolf</b> "

11 votes went to 5 different movies. Victory Through Air Power, In Search Of The Castaways, and The One And Only, Genuine, Original Family Band are three of the first four movies to leave the live-action Disney line.

As for the fourth one- can you believe it? We have a tie. Sorry Triple J, at least you tried.

Please vote for only one of these two movies to leave:

Never Cry Wolf
Popeye

Voting for the tie-breaker ends tomorrow (Wednesday, July 14th) at midnight (eastern time).
