Great info just added on the front page...they LOOK like 2-disc Vault Disneys (same amount and style of extras) but it doesn't say that they're 2-discs...anybody know?

I was wondering the same thing.

They certainly look jam packed, but as I was reading the specs I thought that it could all probably fit on one disc.

Having said that, the format looks very much like the Vault/recent SE discs.

Either way, these films are getting great treatment.

It looks to me that there's a little less than the current Vault/Special Edition releases.

I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I think that it's 50/50 on if these will be 2 or 1 disc releases.

At the very least, we are getting pretty decent SEs of some not-so-famous titles.
I mean, yes they are classics in their own right, but not 'Parent Trap', 'Old Yeller', 'Love Bug' etc classics.
Given how little Disney has put on some bona fide classic animation (i.e. 'Gold Collection'), these films are doing well.

Worst case scenario: no more 2 disc SEs. I'd hate to see that, and I doubt we will. But this isn't too bad a compromise is it?

Look forward to checking them out at any rate...

The SRP for each is just $24.99 which leads me to think 'one disc', but maybe Disney's just being customer-friendly and lowering prices. Yeah, right. This from the studio who charges $24.99 for a VHS?

Well, the Vault Disney lines have been reduced, and there's supposed to be a re-price soon for 20,000 Leagues. Perhaps Disney has realised that (sadly) most of the big chain shops are reluctant to hold stock in "old" movies for full list price. (Which explains why the Vault/Special Edition titles are reportedly so hard to find in some areas).

Yeah, I thought of that for the first wave, which have an SRP of just $22.99. (Amazing, considering that the bare Treasure Island costs $7 more and some of the recent bare, P&S like Return to Snowy River are also $22.99.)

FWIW, 20,000 Leagues isn't being repriced, just repromoted, I guess. The SRP will still be $29.99 according to Disney's info. Same for Treasure Island.

Disney better release them as 2-disc! It would be such a shame if they didn't. It's like Disney can't stick with one thing for very long. They started with Vault Disney, decided to switch it to Special Edition, and now the Special Edition can't be 2-discs! AAH!

It's time the fans take over Disney.

As I posted here about three months ago, each of these titles will be only 1 disc. The person who actually put the extras together said that he had more than enought stuff for 2 disc versions of Dumpling and the first Witch, but Disney wanted to do it on the cheap.

I agree with MickeyMouseboy that it will be two disc.

Sorry to sound negative, Trojan Mouse, but how do you know the guy that filmed all the extras? Looking at the extra list, it seems like it will be about the same as the other Vault/Special Edition titles. A conversation, theatrical short, making of, and the galleries.

Well, the name Trojan Mouse hints that he might be a Buena Vista Home Video insider.

We'll have to see - the question is if the making of's have been cut down. Disney's been scissor happy on their documentaries on the UK Pinocchio Special Edition release, and the Japanese and French Peter Pan 2 disc sets.

Also apart from Apple Dumpling none of the discs list the extensive galleries and 'trivia' collections on the other Vault/Special Editions.

If the cartoons shorts were not included I would say without doubt that these releases would be one disc. I'm not so sure, thanks to the inclusion of the shorts.

I think you meant three weeks ago - June 11.

Well, looking at the extras, I think it's safe to think that Apple Dumpling Gang at least will be 2-disc:

1.75:1 16:9, DD 5.1, THX-certified; audio commentary, "Two Gun Goofy" short, A Look Back with the Gang, Conversations with Tim Conway, Disney's Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy Heroes, Lost Treasures: The Disney Back Lot, Galleries with Stills, Biographies & Artwork, 1975 Studio Album

Maybe not so great for the Witch Mountain films, but I'm still hoping!

Disney contracts out for the production of most of the extras on all of the recent Vault and Non-Vault Disney titles. That company is responsible for producing the documentaries, developing the menus and doing the overall layout of the disc. The person that I know actually did all of the extras for the 4 Vault Disney Titles, 20,000 Leagues and The Love Bug. In fact, if not for this individual, we probably would have only gotten a single disc of Leagues and Love Bug. Based solely upon his love for these movies, he was able to get the double disc treatment for them.

The next batch, however, has been greatly cut back and each will be a single disc only. Sorry.

Hey, even as single disc sets they are still more packed than many Disney films of this vintage.

I am now certain that these will be 1 disc releases. We all know the 2 disc Vault/Special Edition titles have a special 'location' on the menu structure for the trailers. So if the release is 2 discs, why would the trailer be an Easter Egg?

I know Disney may not be releasing the full details of the other two discs released at the same time but neither Escape to Witch Mountain or The Apple Dumpling Gang list a trailer (odd when the Apple Dumpling Gang has it's own Publicity section listed).

So I have to accept Trojan Mouse is indeed a 'Trojan'
