After making this list, I'm shocked to realize just how many films of his I haven't seen. For some reason, it hadn't occured to me.

Personally, I think I like all of Lucas's films (that I've seen) more than almost all of Spielberg's. Yet, I still consider Spielberg to be a much better director. I honestly think that any measure of greatness in Lucas' movies is 30% him, and 70% everybody else involved.

I think that Jack is rating movies that the two directors actually directed. Lucas didn't direct Howard the Duck, he was only one of the producers. Likewise for Star Wars V and VI, he came up with the story, produced and directed certain scenes but wasn't credited as the director.

I stand corrected - I remembered Lucas as the director.

I've been meaning to rent SPR (and the rest of his films I haven't seen) for a while. Like I said before, it didn't really hit me till now just how many I haven't seen, so I'll likely pick up my pace in checking all of them out now. I've heard many great things about Ryan, so I really look forward to it. Thanks!

Well that list pretty much sums it up. 21 vs 5. If Lucas really wants to be taken seriously, he needs to stop making excuses about not making films

and actually make films. Any films. The technology isn't there, fine. Make a film about an office worker, an army captain, an artic explorer, a circus performer. Anything. Just made a film and put you heart and soul into it.

Not only has Spielberg has a wide range of subjects for his films, and he was willing to take a risk on Lucas' technology long before Lucas himself did.

Just make a films instead of constantly meddling with the films you have made.

Duel was released theatrically here in Europe so I am counting that one as a full movie.
