Jeese, how easy IS it to get banned from DISboards?

First of all, UltimateDisney is great for Disney DVD-related discussion... does anyone know of any great boards for discussion primarily focused on Walt Disney World? Well, besides DISboards:

I just joined there in April, and immediately struck up a good rapport with a lot of members on the debate board there... and invariably got under the skin of a few others, but that's generally the nature of what the whole board was about. Shortly after I joined, they took down the debate board, which was met with a lot of criticism on the part of many previous DB members, and I spoke my piece quite a bit.

But that was fine: I adjusted to the community board, and the debates started springing up there. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Then I come home one day, and poof: My account's banned. No explanation, just banned... with no way to get in touch with anyone I had gotten along with to explain why. There's no discerning markings on my account profile to let people know what happened, I can't register a new account: Their system is basically to sweep the person under the rug so it can't be known that the administrators can fuck over whomever they choose for whatever reason.

So, I was talking briefly with a previous member online, and asked him to make a topic giving everyone my best wishes, and he said that he wouldn't be able to, because that's not allowed and he'd be banned. Later, he mentioned that cases like mine "happen all the time."

You know, at this point, I don't think I'd even want to participate in a community like that, but I DID like the forums quite a bit. *shrugs*

So, I wandered onto my favorite Disney picture site (Suite Disney), and I noticed this:
I have been banned from the Disboards and they have blocked suitedisney.com. You won't be able to post any of my pictures or links to my site there, they will not show up. This was not my doing and any rumors you may have heard to the contrary are false. This site will remain and there are now over 6000 pictures. Everyone is welcome and there are plenty of other Disney web sites where my pictures can be shared with your friends.
I think that says scores about the administrators and moderation team there.

As much as I don't appreciate the title of the thread , I can help you out:

www.wdwmagic.com is a great (and massive) message board, the primary focus of which is Disney World, though there are a few diversions for other related topics. Its home page is a great site for updates on WDW as well, just like UD's home page is for DVD & Movie news.

I know nothing about DIScussions, though I have heard of them. I know that the mod at wdwmagic, Steve, doesn't tolerate a lot frivelous bickering or political discussions- it's all mature Disney discussion, not debate. I hope that's what you are looking for.

I have to echo Aaron - could you please edit the title. I find it offensive.

I've updated the thread title to something less offensive. I can sympathize with your situation, though. Lots of forums seem to go heavy on the moderatorial action and I hope people don't see that to be the case for this one.

"ooohhh....he said ****!"

Seriously though, that sucks. Period. But when you have "private ownership" of sites like these it's an open-door policy for admins to just boot whomever they feel like...whether it be because they don't agree with their POVs or just don't like that person for whatever reason.

I'll be the first to say (and I think I've said it here before) that I don't always agree with what you post, but I respect your opinion and I'm glad that we have a site like this where we can have exchanges of ideas/opinions.

Ditto. Luke, I don't think anyone here sees you as too strict or too laid-back. In fact, in all my message boarding experience (which is fairly extensive, lol), I'd have to say that this is the most well-administered that I've seen. While site creators and administrators certainly do have the right to make the rules and enforce them (which includes booting people out), I do feel that they can be abused. I've seen that done, but fortunately, this isn't one of those places.

Well now that the title problem is fixed.

No, I don't. They would seem to be totally inconsistant and not very good communicators. If the board rules were not clearly explained and you did not get at least one warning then they were totally offside in kicking you out. There are probably a clique of posters who run the board and dont want to be challenged.

Oh yeah and if you find the same kind of board for Disneyland pass it along.

WDWMagic also has a fairly extensive forum for DisneyLand as well- and all the Disney properties and parks. The site, on the whole, is focused on WDW, but a lot of the members are DLites, and it's the best I've seen for that park, too.

Er.

I didn't realize the topic title would be a big deal. But hey, my quote to live by has always been "Sacred cows make the best hamburger."

I would have to generally agree with the praise for the administration here, though. Disney-oriented sites have a tendency to be... ridiculously strict and overbearing, but Ultimate Disney seems to be fairly laid back, which is a breath of fresh air.
