If you pre-order something from Amazon, do they charge your credit card right then, or do they wait until the item is released?

No they charge when it is shipped.

Pre-orders are not charged to your credit card until they ship. That goes for regular orders too. That's why you can change or cancel your order anytime until it goes into the "Items shipping soon" phase. Then you are locked in.

Don't forget that when you use our links to buy from Amazon, you support the site! Direct links (through the title listings or <a href="http://shop.ildb.org/">shop</a>) support the most.
