Well, the whole running time is listed as 48mins 50secs. Not exactly amazing. They could/should at least double the amount of shorts on these discs.

Even then we wouldn't have anything approaching the quality of the Walt Disney Treasures sets. It seems Disney UK is still convinced that the only people who would be intrested in such a release are young children.

There's not really much to get jealous about. :(

Trust me: there's a lot to get jealous about: the only way North America would see these shorts are as a "bonus feature" on a Gold Collection release. I would trade all the DTV movies from the past two years just for the Walt Disney Fables!!!!! And I'm not kidding!!!!!

You'll see the shorts on the second Silly Symphonies Treasures set (whenever that is released) Besides if you really want to see them, invest in a multi-region PAL >> NTSC player. There are normally adverts on DVDTalk for them, and discussions on the Pros and Cons of each machine are found in DVDTalk's International DVD section.

Actually, I haven't seen Jungle Book 2 yet (though, I must admit, I do want to) and technically that's not a DTV sequel-it was just planned to be. And I LOVED Return to NeverLand!

I have a weird situation. I know my DVD player plays PAL or NTSC, and the store clerk said it would play almost any DVD in the world (with the exception of some strange type of disc I'd never heard of), but the instruction manual says it only plays Region 1, even though it can play PAL or NTSC.

PAL and NTSC are two different ways to code a picture into "pixels" (as the new word seems to be!) - and to show it again on a TV screen.
This doesn´t mean that you can play different regioncoded DVDs.
With a DVD player that can read and show both PAL and NTSC you can chose to recode your player - but after that you will only be able to see DVDs from the new region.
Old players didn´t had the capability to show both the systems and therefore you could not recode them either!

Plus the DVD player may play PAL discs - ie. Output a PAL stream to the television - But your television may not be able to display a PAL image (most likely not if you are in the US).

You need to see if your DVD Player can convert PAL to NTSC. This is different from just playing PAL discs.

Great covers Dam - this confirms the contents for the set. Until now, they've just been rumours in the UK!

Am I reading the bottom correct? Does the "Mathmagic" set say it contains 3 cartoons? What else is on apart from "Mathmagic" and "Ben" if this is the case?

Looks like at last there's a Disney Fables disc worth buying! I'll pre-order volume 3 now!

Hi 2099net

The 3 cartoons on volume 3 are (at least on the German version):

Donald in Mathmagicland (1959, DD)
DONALD IM LAND DER MATHEMAGIE

Ben and Me (1953)
MEIN GROSSER FREUND BEN

Modern Inventions (1937, DD)
DONALD IM MUSEUM
