Does anyone know why there isn´t Easter Eggs on all the Walt Disney Treasures DVD´s ? For example there is no Easter Eggs,at least as far as I know ,on the Complete Goofy DVD nor on the Behind the scenes DVD.
But I think most of the other Treasures has Easter Eggs on them so why not on all of them ?

I would guess that in some situations, there just isn't the content for it. For example, there's no Easter Eggs on Disneyland USA either. On Silly Symphonies, they almost went too far with Easter Eggs. There's a balance that needs to be maintained. On top of that, I think the Treasures series is targeted at a different audience... one that isn't in for the "gimmicks" of the format -- they just want the content.

I don't want to work so hard for watching something. Or worse yet, be required for someone to tell me the secret of getting at something, such as with The Phantom Menace DVD. You have to type in THX1138 on your remote control to get to an easter egg. Like anyone would naturally figure that one out. Or with Ichabod & Mr. Toad, you have to play an entire lengthy game and win before you can watch the cartoon, Susie, the Little Blue Coupe. That cartoon isn't even listed on the back! I want to just pop in a DVD and let it run it's length without having to work so hard. Am I the only one who hates easter eggs?

Yes, that's why they call them "easter eggs". Half the joy is in hunting for them!

Nothing is stopping you from watching the thing you bought. If you like a film/collection, presumably you bought the DVD so you could WATCH THAT MOVIE. You don't have to enter a code to do that.

However, for the inquisitive minds, there are rewards.

Easter eggs are bonus bonuses. I think they are a neat idea, but I agree the ones with codes are a bit silly.

I enjoy easter eggs though I think that Disney doesn't need easter eggs of things released on other treasures.

I don't hate easter eggs but I tend to side with mvealf in that I wish DVD's were more lineal. I guess this comes from both mvealf and me being Lasermaniacs in which program navigation seemed more like being in a continuos play movie house. You inserted the disc, hit play, you watched all the content without user intervention. Or you could just press skip repeatedly and you'd go over the entire contents without having to search through several menues. I guess I was spoiled by those 12" (30cm) shiny discs . I also miss features like double and triple fast play which made things look as if they were shot at 60fps! and other more accurate frame/motion manipulations. Maybe in HD-DVD..

It can be a thrill to accidentally discover something, but they have taken it too far. I actually had someone who wanted to watch Susie, the Little Blue Coupe, and we had to sit there and play the game about 3 times before we got all of the answers right and could watch the cartoon. It is a kids game that most adults wouldn't want to sit and play. What a pain!

But it IS stopping me if it's an easter egg that I can't find. The Practical Pig is a perfect example. The contents don't list that cartoon, and I had to look on the internet to find that it was hidden in the setup menu (something that I practically never go into, or would even guess that they would put it there). I would be willing to bet that most of the general public who bought that tin have not seen that short because the average person would not stumble upon it, and they don't give you any clues. That is just wrong.

Or you could make a note of the place where it is on the title/chapter menus, so you don't have to play the game each time you want to watch it.

Give people more credit. If you went to all the effort of looking up the website to find where the easter eggs are, then surely someone else has already done the hard work for you.

Besides of which you are missing the point - nobody is stopping you from enjoying the DVD you bought. The main program is presumably why you bought it. If you find the EE, yay! If not, you only have about 2 hours + of other stuff to keep you occupied.

Do you get someone to chew your meals for you as well?

It is funny how people are so demanding about getting bonus features on DVDs. Does anybody remember the days of video tape where you bought the movie and were happy you had the movie and didn't whine and complain that there weren't enough extra features and Easter eggs on it?

The average person is also aware of toasters, but what would make them think to look there, or the internet to watch the DVD?

You are the one who responded to my post, so how can I be missing my point? Which is, I think it's a pain to be forced to check the internet on every DVD that I buy so I can record the process of finding the easter eggs, and then it's a hassle each and every time I want to watch them. No, it's not stopping me from enjoying the contents, but the process is not enjoyable. It would be interesting to poll the general public (not Disney enthusiasts) to find out how many have seen The Practical Pig who bought the Silly Symphonies tin. I'm glad you are so amused by hunting, but everybody isn't like you. I live by the "keep it simple" rule. Making something less user-friendly has never been my goal, call me practical. Why do you presume the reason I buy stuff? Your presumption is wrong. I buy it for the complete contents.

I've learned that Easter eggs are very easy to find if you put the disc in your computer's DVD-ROM. Then you go to every menu screen and move the cursor all around the screen and every once in a while something will highlight that doesn't seem like it should've highlighted. There, you've found an Easter egg!

If the producers of a DVD put an Easter egg on and they know that it's going to be a fun thing for 99% of the people to do a little simple hunting I don't think they need to bend to the will of the 1% who DEMAND that they be told where the egg is. It reminds me of the title of that one Dead Kennedys album, "Give me convenience or give me death!"

Yeah Easter Eggs are easier to find if you put them in your DVD Drive on your computer.

It does take away some of the fun though.

I don't consider it fun having to search all over a disk for the content. The extras on the first Treasures were especially maddening since they were actual cartoons. I have a little more patience for the Finding Nemo types where they are totally extraneous.

My vote is for convienence as well... easter eggs are fun, but they really have a "one shot" usefullness.

The issue of easter egss, like most, is moderation.

It's fine to have little interview snippits, introductions or whatever as Easter Eggs. It's wrong to have substantial content as Easter Eggs. And, yes, I include additional cartoons as content, listed on the pack or not.

Oh, and Loomis, I don't want anyone to chew my food. But it would be appreciated if you could cook it for me!

Wasn't there a purpose for some of the full cartoons to be hidden as Easter eggs on Mickey Mouse in Black and White?

Thank you for all your answers ! Personally,I like easter eggs and I also think it is fun to "hunt" for them.Easter eggs are in my opinion especially good when they are interesting and/or fun like the ones on the Walt Disney Treasures DVD´s .

I don't mind the Easter Eggs like they have on Silly Symphonies Treasure set; it's a lot of fun and a pleasant surprise sometimes too. The ones that I don't like are the ones like the aforementioned Icahbod, or on the "Santa Clause" where you have to actually get thru a whole game to be able to view the cartoon. That's pretty stinko. They should have an option where you can just view the cartoon in that event.
