Imagine a REAL Disney Channel

Imagine a channel that played disney movies 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Like one hour its the rescuers, then the next Aladdin, then maybe a beauty and the beast, a little mermaid here and there and voila a Real Disney Channel. I understand that a channel like this would kill Disneyes movie and DVD profits because the movies would always be on but a person can dream right? or atleast a Disney Channel like it used to be , whatever happened to Vault Disney at night? and the alldain and little meramaid and gargoyles cartoons in the day, I would rather have a channel like that then one with poppified stars singing and acting in poppified shows.whatever happened to Zoog Disney and those little cartoon characters and stuff, i miss all that :(

Im into more of the "popified" stuff but Lizzie Maguire, Dave the Barbarian, and Sister Sister suck. They need to take off Sister Sister and put on Smart Guy again and Dave the Barbarian is probably the stupidest cartoon of all time and Lilo and Stitch series follows right behind it. I want more Mouse House beside Barbarian, Little Mermaid and/or Aladdin beside Lilo and Stitch. Kim Possible is pretty cool too. And they play that damn recess TOO MUCH. Its not that good to play it alll the time.

My Schedule

Thats So Raven
Smart Guy
Little Memaid and Aladdin series
Kim Possible
House of Mouse
Lizzie Maguire ( YUCK gotta deal cause theyd never get rid of it )
Recess ( cut down times on per day )

Oh and about having the non stop Disney movies, that would not only decrease sales about like 85% ( or more ) but I think the world would get completely tired of them all and nothing would be special about them anymore cause all you have to do is look in the TV Guide and find the time, whats special about that?

Actually, the "Real" Disney channel you describe is pretty much how it was in the beginning, when it debuted in 1983. Disney Movies from the vault throughout the day. The schedule also accommodated the black and white "Mickey Mouse Club" and "Walt Disney Presents" TV shows. There was a monthly magazine for subscribers to the channel that covered the whole month. Like HBO and Showtime during that period, movies played multiple times throughout the month. Within the first year Disney began adding all-new series and all-new made for cable movies.

I'd settle for a Disney Channel that showed one theatrical Disney movie a night (animated or live action) in its original aspect ratio, without commercial interruption. And rather than repeat certain programs ad nauseam, they could utilize their massive library of TV shows and made-for-TV movies to provide more than "That's So Raven", "Kim Possible", "The Proud Family", "Lizzie McGuire", and "Sister, Sister" again and again and again.

I miss Vault Disney more than anything. I don't know who decided that Lizzie Maguire needs to be on at 3AM... is anyone watching that? If people like the show, can't they watch it any of the other eight times it's on each day? The Disney Channel's schedule is just the same ten shows recycled over and over. It has very little to do with Disney, which is very sad. Roy Disney wanted to turn ABC Family into an actual Disney Channel, I believe, but that will most likely never happen. We all just have to wait for Disney Treasures to slowly release the good stuff while the Disney Channel shows the same things over and over.

I was pretty disapointed when we finally got the cheapened version of the Disney Channel, I was expecting more of their old stuff. They have so many movies that I doubt it would get boring very quickly. Besides, Comedy Central is constantly playing Half Baked, and that never gets old

In all seriusness what really did happen to Vault Disney why did they take it away I enjoyed watching it late at night. And the Zoogs that was really cute it made things more special.I am not trying to complain casue I do enjoy a lot of the new shows that have in place but I like variety too. I am wondering if anyone knows a lageit explanation of where Vault Disney went and why? And will we ever see it again?

I'd guess it just wasn't popular enough, and wasn't attracting enough ratings to justify the expense.

Contary to what some people here think, today's Disney executives aren't out on a quest to bury Walt's Disney. They just want to make money (as has been pointed out many times in the past). It's much cheaper to re-run a show from earlier in the day in the graveyard hours than clear and show a whole different show.

If old time Disney was popular[*], you can bet your granny's life that there'd be a dedicated Vault Disney channel.

* Of course, I'll admit now, making old time Disney popular may require nothing more than a marketing push, letting people know what's available. But sadly most people these days, especially 7-15 year olds don't want to watch anything older than 5 years ago.

That would be perfect. According to your stats here at UD, if you add up animated classics, other animateds, and old and new live action, you get 272 movies. If you add the direct to video and made for TV movies, you get 485 movies.

That means if they aired one movie per night, they could go approximately one year and four months without repeating a movie!!! And that doesn't even count new stuff that comes out.

Wow you have certail done your math  Lol although I like the way you think and its sad that eveyrhting has to depend on money like 2099net said.

I've suggested it b4 and I'll suggest it again. There should be a Vault Disney channel! You know, how Cartoon Network got Boomerang for all the old Hanna-Barbera and Lonney Tunes shows and how TVLand had a lot of old shows and played old commercials with them. With a Vault Disney Channel, there are countless television specials, series, and movies Disney could play. Also right before the big movie playing at 8:00 pm, the old opening of "Vault Disney: the ride" could play. Commecrials would be honoring Disney legends or an Alice Comedy or something. On anniversaries, they could play the specials that went along with them (25th Anniversary special for WDW, opening of Disneyland, WDW, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Mickey and Donald's Birthdays, etc...). Though to please the Disney Executives, it would probably not be a basic cable channel and would be needed to pay extra like for HBO and stuff.

Yeah I agree but also think how much money they would make if they had a really good line up and lots of promotion pump it up.I really think it could work.People like variety to begin with which is why I am not even sure vault Disney was taking away from disney channle. Who knows I hope it all works out.

My wish list thus far I would like to see Disney do:
1.Relase Song of the South on DVD 2Disc if possible
2.Disney Afternoon cartoons on DVD
3.Vault Disney back or its own channle
:)

Poppins- I had forgotten all about the Disney Channel Magazine we used to get! Thanks for reminding me of that.

Disney Channel has steadily declined since it began, but it still remains one of my favorite and most-watched TV shows. They just need some variety, and some actual DISNEY.

Also, as for all those old cartoons being shown, they are... on Toon Disney! I think that channel has crossed over to basic cable just like the Disney Channel, so you might want to look into it if you don't have it!

How about a Lizzie Channel? 24 hours of feel good fun!.

People must watch it the way it is for them to keep it this way.
I think they would rather sell their movies now. I rarely watch anymore, but my 2 year old likes their morning programming. which is mostly commercials

yes, that would be pretty cool...when I got Disney channel I firstly thought I would see the disneyland show, Donald, Mickey, Goffy and Pluto´s cartoons (not just house of mouse), silly simphonies, Disney classics like Cinderella or Jungle Book, and other movies like Mary Poppins, Old Yeller, or Pete´s Dragon, or the mickey mouse show (and hear that catchy song thousands of times haha!!)

But thinking as a kid, that would be really boring, if I were 8, I admit I would prefer to see Recces or Doug, than movies or shows my Grandma used to watch... I think a combination of both would be great...
