I wonder when the live Disney Store will start to accept pre-orders? Generally 2 months prior right? I've never done much pre-ordering before....

DisneyStore.com suspended my affiliate account because we have an interactive section (message board or forum) and because Disney is in the address.

Doug - I meant my local disney store but thanks anyway :D

Luke - Its funny how seriously disney takes things. You'd think that they'd want to make money no matter where the customers came from... :)

You don't know the half of it! I'm studying IT law at the moment (I'm doing a law degree here - blah), and the way these large companies go after anyone with their name in the domain name.

I agree that you'd think they'd accept money from anywhere.

I don't mind shopping with Amazon though. I may not get the lithos, but it is cheaper internationally and at least this site sees some of the money...

Mind you, the lithos are pretty cool

The name thing I can sort of understand from a twisted viewpoint. Why they don't want affiliates who have message boards is a stranger matter, but then I guess they don't want personal coupon codes being shared or something.

Since this site became a DisneyStore.com affiliate last fall, I've made a whopping $8 from them...and I'd guess that I'll never see those $8 since I didn't meet the minimum payout requirements and they don't want me to send business their way.

Okay with me. :)

Companies really need to start getting better with their fan relations. The internet can be a powerful tool. Luke's site is a great resource for fans in finding, learning and buying Disney DVDs. In fact, it is the best site of its kind on this subject. Now, someone like this, Disney should embrace, as he is helping them! This is free advertising for them! Instead of snubbing, they should be helping sites like this. I think that companies are afraid of the internet in some ways, as there has never been anything like this in the past, and they just don't know how to deal with this sort of thing properly. I think that one day Disney, and other comapnies will look more favorably over sites such as this.

I work at a Disney Store and my gm said that once the Treasure Planet pre-sell is over next week, we should start pre-selling The Jungle Book 2 next. I don't know if this is right or not, The Lion King pre-sell could be right around the corner.
It's funny because nobody buys the sequel pre-sells...we still have boxes of old sequel lithos still in the stockroom for Cindy II, Return to Neverland, 101 II, etc.

I didn't know that I could pre-order movies from the "local" Disney Store. If I pre-order Sleeping Beauty or Treasure Planet from the local store, will I still get the free lithographs and other stuff? I love the Treasure Planet Lithos.

The Disney Store is only a couple of miles north of me. I hope somone will let us know when Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King are available for pre-order. Thanks!

Yes, if you order at your local disney store you still get the bonus gifts. I've never ordered online before. In fact, when you pre-order the movie you get your gifts right then instead of having to wait till the movie is released. Thats the plus to pre-ordering from the local store.

...That's one reason I went to Overstock.com to buy some Collector's Editions, because the shipping prices at Disney are really bad.

$5.95 USD for a $30 DVD set with bonuses? That's expensive. Even some amateur radio stores don't charge that much for $100 worth of products.

Thanks everyone.

Here's a picture of The Lion King bonuses (Simba and Rafiki plush toy and commermerative pin) on Disney's website:

It seems that Disney.com keeps changing the artwork for Sleeping Beauty. The disclaimer on the lithograph even says: "Artwork subject to change."

Luke, sometimes I don't understand studios at all. In a way I understand their point too, but they have to look at the bottom line. You didn't set up this site to become filthy rich off the Disney name. It is your love of Disney & particularly DVD's that prompted you to create this great site.

Even if you do make some money off affiliate links, who cares. The positive PR is worth so much more than that.

Sage words, Robyn. If only Disney had people with your vision in charge of things...

Starion - that litho I like. Not to keen on the one with her dancing with the forest animals, but this one I like.
