It's based on the Diana Wynne Jones book "Howl's Moving Castle." I haven't read the book yet.
There is a brief outline of the book
here.

November 23, 2004 Director of "Monsters, Inc." to Produce English version of "Howl"
During a press conference held by Howl's Moving Castle producer Toshio Suzuki it was annouced that Pete Docter (director of "Monsters, Inc.") will head of production of the English version of "Howl". John Lasseter was the first choice but he is working on "Cars" and unable to handle both films simultaneously.

I saw this earlier, and all I can say is I hope he does as well as Lassater or better.

I am sure that Mr Docter will do good, I suspect that John Lasseter could still have/give some input on the film if needed. I think its going to be a great movie.

I wish I could find out about a time frame on when we could expect to see this film on this end of the pond.

I have faith in all Pixar directors. They truly understand the magic of animated filmmaking. I predict that every animated Oscar from here on out will go to either a Pixar production or a Miyazaki production - at least for the next few years.

According to Boxofficemojo.com, Howl's Moving Castle is tentatively going to be released in June by Buena Vista. No permanent date has been announced. The type of release (wide/limited) hasn't been announced either. Hopefully it will get a wide release though. This is good news because I want to see this movie very much!
And fyi, Pirates of the Caribbean II's date is July 7th, 2006.
Steamboy's date has also been released for March 18th by Sony.

I saw the trailer for this and it looks soo good. I want it soon (now, preferrably). (: The music will also be fantastic as well, if the little snippet from the trailer is any indication.

I had Princess Mononoke prior buying Spirited Away and I have never liked it that much. But I saw Nausicaa and tought about giving SA a try.
I remember that SA was released alongside Kiki's and Castle. I also remember saying: "I should buy all 3 at the same time" but then I tought, "yeah sure... all that money at once". I bought SA and after watching it and loving it I went the next day for Kiki's (the same reaction). So then finally I bought Castle. After all this I just want all Miyazaki's movies.

you're not alone... I believe more people will do that and this one could actually be hit. There hasn't been an anime movie succesful at the Box office yet, and this one can pull it off I believe. After Spirited Away, Miyazaki has a following...
