Other Animation SURVIVOR - Round 10 (Final 4)

The last round was a little closer than expected, but still not much of a contest...
Voted out so far...
Round 1 - Recess: School's Out, Teacher's Pet
Round 2 - Doug's First Movie, Piglet's Big Movie
Round 3 - The Jungle Book 2, Dinosaur
Round 4 - James and the Giant Peach, Return To Neverland
Round 5 - The Tigger Movie, The Brave Little Toaster
Round 6 - Ducktales: The Movie- The Treasure Of The Lost Lamp*
Round 7 - A Goofy Movie
Round 8 - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Round 9 - A Bug's Life

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days and vote for the Disney animated film that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least. At the end of the round, I'll come on here and announce who got voted off, and a new thread will start for the 11th round.

For the purposes of the game, we'll use the site definition for 'Other Animation,' which is any animated film distributed by Disney, excluding Disney Feature Animation. This includes anything made by Walt Disney Television or Pixar, and any films that fall into special, outside categories of theatrical animation. You can see the site's list of Other Animation here.

You can talk about your reasons for your vote, but I ask that you put the full title of what you're voting for in bold letters so that it's easy for me to count them all in a hurry.

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these movies (The Final 4!):

Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Monsters, Inc.
Finding Nemo

Voting ends at 11:00 pm (EASTERN TIME) on Thursday, June 10th.

*Began the transition to 1 movie leaving per round, instead of 2.

This is where we separate the men from the boys, and although all 4 are exceptional, I've gotta go with:

I am shocked by all the TS votes so far. :o

Bug's should've gone before Nightmare, so I'm glad to see it finally go. Nightmare should also have outlasted Finding Nemo, which is considerably weaker than the other 3, and the single most overrated Disney feature (not to say it's bad- I still like it a lot).

Personally, I don't see how Nightmare can stack up to the Pixar movies, and (other than Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish) I'm really no fan of Burton's work. I'm a big fan of "story" and from that POV, Nightmare fails to affect me in any way.

But this is what's neat about games like this, it gives us a view of how the forum thinks, as "movie quality" is a highly individual opinion. For all I knew, tons of people would have kept Nightmare in, but that obviously wasn't the case.

And yes, I think Toy Story 2 is the best of the bunch by far, but quite a few people have been voting to get it off since early on. :?

I am in absolute agreement that Nightmare Before Christmas should have made it farther. I think it is better than two or three of the Pixar's. It continues to blow me away every time I see it.

I also think, Toy Story 2 blows 1 away. One of the very few sequels, Disney or other to improve on the first. I think it shows what Disney does wrong with sequels. Almost all of them feature the exact same characters. Pixar added so many new ones that were very important to the plot that the story was fresh.

I'm a big fan of Burton, so maybe that biases me, but I think that Nightmare had a really strong and involving story. Or maybe that's just the obsessive holiday lover in me. It's even greater strengths, though, are music and it's incredible characterization.

Also- did you mean to vote for Toy Story 2? I thought you were pulling for it to win. You might want to vote for Nemo, in hopes of ousting it instead.

All of these are great, and none of the final six were ever really weak; I hate doing this, in fact, but Finding Nemo is the weakest of the four left. It should have left us before A Bug's Life did, I think. All of them are exellent on all fronts but the search-and-resucue-mission had been done before (though it was changed around enough to work for Nemo and not feel formulatic, it's still the weaker in comparison to the others.)
