While I was surfing the internet I came to an article that explained why Disney released "The Rescuers" in 2003.
It said that the Disney company was planning on the release (VHS) of the Rescuers in 1999 and have the DVD-VHS release on 2007. But, back in 1999 the unexpected happened. Disney had to recall 3.4 million copies of The Rescuers because they contained two frames with pornographic stuff on it, 2 pictures of a topless woman. Disney never thought about deleting the picture at first but now, It is almoust impossible to surf the internet looking for the Rescuers without bumping onto something about the two frames. Disney cannot release The Rescuers without having people wondering whether will the pictures will be there or not. So the rumour is that Disney wanted to release the last issue of the rescuers( is that why they didn't change the cover?) and then delete the video permanently like Song of the South.
I hope the rumour is false because Bernard and Bianca are my favorite disney characters.
