For some reason both Amazon and Costco have hiked up the prices on the treasures. Amazon was 23.09 and is now 24.74 and Costco was 19.99 and is now 21.99. I'm not sure if any other stores also raised their prices.

It is common practice for Amazon (and lots of other stores) to raise the price when a product is available. Greater discounts are only available for pre-orders.

That's nothing, some guy at Amazon marketplace is selling Tomorrowland for $199.95:

Is there really that much demand for the Tomorrowland Treasure?

This will be interesting to see what prices the Tomorrowland set ends up going for on Amazon and Ebay. Perhaps the resellers saw that it had the lowest production number and snatched them up, which might be why stores are having a hard time getting them in stock.

I got all 4 of the Disney Treasures DVDs this morning at Wal-Mart with no problems. However, they were $2 more than I had anticipated as the last time I bought the Treasures there they were only C$23.83. But the newest ones are $25.83. Ah well, that didn't stop me as I still got them.

I noticed that they only had 6 copies of the Tomorrow Land DVD set as opposed to at least 12 of each of the others. I would be interested in hear insight as to what people think may happen to the value of the Tomorrowland set seeing as how it has the lowest production run of any of the Treasures sets so far. Do you think it would worth picking up another set for safe keeping in the future?

Best Buy has a list price of $29 or something, on sale for $25. What're the prices looking like at Wal-Mart, Costco, etc.?

I bought my set of 4 at the local Best Buy last night for a total price of around $85 (before sales tax) because I used one of those Disney Best Buy gift card coupons that take $15 off a purchase of 4 Disney movies. ;)

BTW, they had plenty of all 4 of the new releases and there was even still one of the Disneyland tins from the previous set on the shelf.

Wow, I wish I was at your Best Buy. Our's doesn't have those Disney gift cards anymore, and there were no old Treasures left. In fact, there were very few Treasures at all.

Correction - it is one of the "Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studio" tins from the second wave rather than the "Disneyland USA" from the first wave. I do not know why I typed Disneyland instead of Disney Studio.

BTW, IIRC, it was priced around $30.

My Best Buy has not had those gift cards for several months either. However, when I noticed that they were running low, I bought 3 of them. I still have one coupon left and it is good until December 31, 2004. ;)

Wow!! I somehow didn't see this when I first read this thread. You can still get them at Amazon!! Surely they haven't sold!? I guess he's looking to cash in on some uninformed sap, or he just thinks they are instantly worth that much :?
