Debbie Allen to Direct Broadway-Aimed Polly: The Musical

I’ve never seen the Polly movies, but they’re on my list. I didn’t know Butterfly McQueen was in them— is she in the Agnes Moorehead role? (nope, after a quick Wikipedia search, it appears that role was played by another Classic Hollywood legend, Celeste Holm. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the Hayley Mills Pollyanna so if McQueen’s character has an analogue in the older film, I don’t remember it)

It sounds like this isn’t being produced with Disney’s involvement, despite the property’s association with the company.

It seems like a case of Disney simply licensing out the title like they did with the Mrs. Doubtfire or Moulin Rouge musical.
