I saw Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King two times at the threatre so I will get this DVD on May 25.

I really enjoyed Return of the King being the best film of the Lord of the Rings Triology.

I guess this won't be a blind buy for me.

I really love this film its so great Peter Jackson bring on King Kong and Lord of the Rings: The Hobbit!!!! :D

No

Hell yeah I'm buying.

And the poll question should be Are you going to buy Lord of the Rings: Return of the King?, not Who's going to buy Lord of the Rings:The Return of the King?. Makes perfect sense.

I'll get the 2-Disc eventually, but I'm not a hurry. The 4-Disc I'll probably pick up ASAP.

Without question. It is being marketed more heavily than any other DVD release in recent memory (at least where I am). It's as if every store EXPECTS you to arrive at midnight on the release... every retailer here is offering some sort of midnight madness gimmick, along with preorder offers that have been plastered on numerous posters. Therefore, I'm a tad worried they'll sell out.

I'm definitely getting it on release day, but I don't know about traipsing out at midnight. For this reason (plus I want the rentals), I may do the Blockbuster deal- the movie on release day and 7 movie rentals for $29.99. I did it for Two Towers, but it is a tad pricy, and I don't rent as much these days. Hmmm.

I've had a craving for it for a while, so waiting for the 4-Disc set is out of the question. The original presentation of the film is the most important to me. I have the 2-Disc sets for the first two, so I want them all to match. Then I'll keep those and start collecting the 4-Disc sets (which are impressively priced at reasonable rates!). I'm so excited! :)

I won't buy it because I am really starting to hate Elija Wood.

I think the poll will be more diversed if it was...

Are you going to buy Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King

Yes (Standard Edition)
Yes (Extended Edition)
No
Thinking about it

Satoshi, you're right! That would make the perfect poll.

I will be getting it when it comes out in a couple weeks. I have the other two standard releases now and that's it. I need to either break down and buy the extended editions now, or do you think I should wait and hope for one big gigantic super special extended edition with like 20 discs (yes I know.. I am exaggerating) and all 3 movies with the extra footage and all the special features??

I hope so, Cat. I really wish the collector's editions included the original theatrical releases, but alas, you have to end up buying two copies of each film in the trilogy. At least it's worth it.

Well, maybe I don't hope so. By then, I'll probably have all the CEs too, and will then just be kicking myself.

Nah .... I'll wait

Nope .... I am holding off ..... I am going to but the TRILOGY BOX set when it comes out. I think that should be an option on the poll to. There should be 2 categories for NO. One for a straight NO, and NO, because I am going to wait for the trilogy set! :D

Oh ..... my precious!!

But the trilogy box set is coming out the same day as the normal theatrical edition. Unless you mean an extended edition trilogy box set of course.

Well, those who are waiting for a Super-Duper Gold Diamond Platinum Ruby Special Extended Edition Trilogy box set are gonna have to wait a few years. That one isn't even past the planning stages yet, and will probably come out as an HD-DVD set in 2007 or later.

As for me, I've only bought the Extended Editions thus far, but if I find the widescreen "Motion Picture Trilogy" box set of the theatrical editions for cheap, I may buy it. The box design isn't really the best -

- looks like a PhotoShop quickie job, in fact; but at least it's a handy container for the three cases. :P

I will be buying Return of the King, but only because I want the entire set.
I didn't really like the entire Lord of the Rings, actually. Not that I thought they were bad, I did enjoy myself(for the majority of the time).

Anyway, I won't be getting the "Super-Duper Gold Diamond Platinum Ruby Special Extended Edition Trilogy box set"
But it does look cool, I must say! :P

Well, if you're referring to the image I posted, that's not it. That's just the old 2-disc theatrical editions repackaged into a cardboard slipsleeve case. Nothing special, really. Mostly just a sales gimmick.

The "Ultimate" trilogy set - the thing I referred to jokingly as the "Super-Duper..." set - is supposedly going to be the Extended Editions and their extras, plus possibly even more scenes integrated into the films, and more extras, etc. Jackson is looking forward to making such a set, but New Line will likely wait until HD-DVD rolls around to release it though. *shrug*
