Don Hall has left WDAS after 25 years. He's most known for directing Winnie the Pooh, Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Strange World. He's currently developing a feature at Skydance Animation.

I think this is the first person leaving WDAS where it seems inconsequential to me.

I think Big Hero 6 is an excellent movie, however I was underwhelmed by Winnie the Pooh, and had issues with Raya and Strange World.

Maybe this is a good thing. His vacant spot will hopefully be filled up by somebody with interesting ideas and approaches.

Oof. Sorry, but I can’t agree with that since it being the last film Disney made over at Walt Disney Animation Studios to be fully 2D/hand-drawn animated, let alone the one starring my favorite Disney character, holds a special place in my heart.

Oof. Sorry, but I can’t agree with that since it being the last film Disney made over at Walt Disney Animation Studios to be fully 2D/hand-drawn animated, let alone the one starring my favorite Disney character, holds a special place in my heart.

I only watched it once, on Blu-ray, a very long time ago, so I cannot remember exactly what faults I found with it.

However, I do remember finding it very boring, and feeling shocked at finding it boring, because the 1977 Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is never boring.

I went into the movie fully expecting to be charmed. Instead, its mere one hour runtime felt like an eternity.

I'm fond of the film but I think it was unnecessary and I believe even the animators said it was a mistake.

If I remember correctly it started as a short and evolved into a feature during production. It was just a project that was supposed to give the animators something to do until they decided what would be the future of hand drawn animation at the studio (basically until they fired them all).

Not “all,” a specific amount still remain.

And maybe those that were let go will come back, at least for Tiana, if Disney decides to turn it into The Princess and the Frog 2 for movie theaters, should Moana 2 make the huge numbers needed at the worldwide box office to give Tiana more money and more of the needed resources to make it fully 2D/hand-drawn animated.

So, don’t screw this last chance up. We have only one chance/shot left and I feel this may really be it. And I think it’s time we make sure we give Disney the courage they need to give hand-drawn animation on the big screen one more chance with Tiana/The Princess and the Frog 2.

So, don’t fail or we’ll lose the chance of hand-drawn animation back on the big screen forever.

They can barely make a Donald Duck short, they're not going to make a full length sequel to The Princess and the Frog.

They will if we make them make the effort to bring back the various Disney hand-drawn animators still alive out of retirement and back for one last hurrah with Tiana/Princess and the Frog sequel, at least for a test like this. And it starts with Moana 2’s success. So I suggest you try to have some hope that they will and muster up some hope that it’ll happen.
