Is this series EVER coming to DVD? I would love to see all tewnty-six episodes on a Treasure set? Come on Disney, this is what you need to do!

Walt lost the rights to this character is the early to mid 20's. This is what lead to the birth of Mickey. Unless Universal or MGM, I forgot who suckered Walt into signing him (Oswald) over, decides to release these cartoons, they will probably never see the light of day. It is sad, but I think a much greater thing came from it.

Well, I forgot about that, but it would be nice if Disney bought the rights back. However, if they didn't, the current company who owns the rights should release them. If for nothing else, all animation buff's/collectors would pick it up, right?

I think so too. I also wouldn't mind seeing some of the old Betty Boop cartoons. I just saw Roger Rabbit yesterday, and seeing Betty Boop sparked my interest. Plus there is also Felix the cat, and all the other old BW stars. I think it would be cool if they made a quality sequel to Roger Rabbit. It could have nothing to do with Roger or Eddie, and that would be fine with me, as long as it was a detective movie, involving toons, and toon town. However I think it could be set later on so as to incorporate more cartoon charcters.

I think most of the Oswald cartoons are long since lost. The same is true for the Alice Comedies which were Walt's earliest films. But I believe Disney do own the negatives for the existing Alice Comedies and clips.

Presumably should all of the Alice and Oswald shorts exist, they would be Public Domain by now. :?:

I'd love to see an Alice Comedy (or an Oswald short) with Pete in it out of curiosity, but I'm not sure I would want to see the whole lot.

Yep, Pegleg Pete made his first appearance in one of those Alice Shorts...It would be nice to see that!
