I was watching Full House the other day. It was a really early episode when the girls were about to go to Disneyland but a rainstorm stopped them. It reminded me about the much later episode where they go to Walt Disney World with Uncle Jesse and his band. I thought, why not make a lists of our favorite tv shows/movies that had episodes/scenes in WDW or Disneyland?

1) Full House ~ remember when DJ kept seeing Steve and one time Steve was in the Aladdin costume? That was funny b/c it really was Aladdin.

2) Step by Step ~ The Lambert family vacationed at WDW with Grandma Lambert. It was practically screaming "Promotional WDW Show" especially when the guy Flash was practically touring the world...

3) Marvin's Room ~ the movie with Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, and Leo DiCaprio. The small family lived with Marvin in Florida and vacationed at WDW. I remember a funny part where, after fainting unexpectedly, Diane Keaton woke up in Mickey's House in Toontown Fair and Goofy was watching over her.

4) Unwrapped ~ not really like the above shows, but my favorite show on food network went behind the scenes of WDW, Unwrapped. They showed some of the secrets to the Wilderness Lodge Chef School, WDW Wedding Cakes, Pizzasafari and Tusker House in ANimal Kingdom, the legendary Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar and Turkey legs, the bakery at Disney's Boarkwalk and many others.

5) Inside Out ~ the BEST show that was on the Disney Channel mid 90's with George Foreman, JD Roth, and two other ppl, I forget their names. They also went behind the scenes of various WDW attractions and had contests with the live audience outside of Cinderella Castle. One boy won a glass slipper for guessing that there were 1000 stones in the castle (his was the closest, b/c there are 0 stones in Cinderella Castle. The bricks were made of fiberglass or something else.)

Anyone else remembering seeing WDW or Disneyland on tv? well, besides home movies

Blossom - the whole Russo family goes to Disneyland. I don't remember a lot of the episodes and the atractions featured, since I haven't seen it in a long time. I remember a funny bit in which Nick (Blossom's father) is talking to Belle and he messes up with the prince's names (something like "Eric is The Little Mermaid's prince". "And who is Snow White's prince?". "Well, he is just called Prince"). Hehehe! Hmm, and Nick even felt in love with Belle!!
I wish I could see this episode again!

Kram, I'm gonna try and find that Unwrapped episode this weekend. Or after finals. Whichever I'll find the time during.

And the boy said 50 not 1000, which I thought was rather stupid, lol.

Anyways, other favorites that had disney:

DISNEYLAND SHOWTIME with The Osmonds. Remember that, Kram??? The Osmonds, and Kurt Russell, and EJ Peaker, and Mr. Gridley. Fun stuff, especially whenever they'd just break into song like on the what I'm guessing was the Mark Twain Boat, when EJ started singing "There's A Kind of Walk You Walk", or when Kurt and some random band was singing "Sugar Sugar" (okay, that was staged, but still, it was a big musical episode!). I especially liked their Behind the Scenes on The Haunted Mansion.

Escapay

I love the Boy Meets World ep where Cory chase Topanga to WDW. I love it when Cory and Shawn wake up from sleeping on Splash Mountain, and then Shawn says "How are we gonna shower" and the ride starts . Gotta love it.

There are a couple of Simpsons episodes that I recall have DisneyLand/World in it.

One episode, at the end, Homer leaps over the fence into DisneyWorld, and you can hear MickeyMouse saying, "Halt--you're under arest!" Or something like that...
Another episode is where Homer and Marge trick Lisa and Bart into packing their suitcases because, "The Simpsons are going to DisneyWorld!" Turns out, Homer and Marge actually took Bart and Lisa to the dentist

There's probably more, but that's all that comes to mind right now

Family Matters - They go to Disney World and Urkel/Stefan is in some sort of showcase and Eddie doesn't get there in time, and Stefan proposes to Laura, etc. I wish I could see it now!! (My favorite episode).

I looooove the Boy Meets World episode at WDW too... another favorite of mine!

Well tonights episode on George Lopez "George Goes to Disneyland" the Lopez go to Disneyland.


This year also According to Jim went to a Disney Cruise in the episode "When You Wish to Be a Star"

Dana's first task at the ad agency is to cast the perfect TV family for a Disney cruise commercial. Cheryl and the kids get the job, but Dana's boss replaces Jim with a handsome actor in the role of "dad."
Jim takes umbrage at being replaced as the father in a promotional shoot for a cruise line.

The Simpsons when Homer climbs over a wall and ask how much for a pretzel and the guy says 13 dollars then Homer screams.
When the Simpsons go to get Sideshow Bob out to help Homer catch his killer. That same Simpsons episode says that more people vist the jail cell then go to then Disney's California Adventure.

MickeyMousePal - how do you know so much about Simpsons and Disneyland if you and no one else is watching?

By the way the California Adventure comment was hilarious. Man that place sucks and right next to the great Disneyland.

Wow! There are more shows that went to Disneyworld than I thought! I saw the George Lopez episode. It was funny b/c there was also a Hidden Mickey Contest going on. A LOT of them were pretty obvious and all the same (just a black MIckey cutout placed in random places) while some were better attempts (clocks and plates, etc.) The hard part about the contest is that they come on too fast to write them down and describe them all. Anyhow, here's the list so far:

NOTE: I am going to write this in an website article fashion. I used to do this sort of thing in my younger days so its great to relive the past .

Love 'em or hate 'em the Disney parks re-defined what is means to go to a theme park. Its no longer about going on the best rides or eating loads of sugar. Its an experience that rarely happens, and when it does it leaves a special memory in people's hearts.

So its no surprise that many of our favorite sitcoms have gone the extra mile to present an episode in one of the parks. While at times it does come off as one big commercial for the parks (and believe me, most of the time they end with a commercial for an airline) there's no denying that episodes that take place at the Disney parks are special and fun. The characters become dazzled by the magic and makes for fun entertainment.

The following is a list of the three sitcoms I remember fondly and their Disney adventures.

Full House: I love Full House, and it ain't love to hate. Its a very cheesy and corny show, yes, but its dumb television that rots your teeth but warms your show. So it ain't surprising that a show about a warm, extended family has an episode in which said family goes to the second happiest place on Earth!

In this 2 part episode, Jesse lands a gig with his band "The Rippers" at Disney World in Orlando. The family excited at the notion they all decide to tag along, going as far as to abandon work and school for the sake of merriment. Even Kimmy Gibler joins the gang! During this episode, Danny struggles to propose to Vicky, Jesse is too busy to spend time with Becky and his twin sons, DJ has separation anxiety and the biggest plot of all, Michelle gets to be princess for a day!

Of course, it would be a sitcom without some sort of problem. Stephanie feels that Michelle gets what she wants because she is cute. Being a princess goes to Michelle's head and starts to annoy the girls. After hearing a conversation in which the girls bad mouth her she runs away and decides to have fun on her own, causing the family to panic.

This being Disney, though, they find her safe and sound and Michelle learns a lesson about humility and sharing.

The episode ends with Jesse performing "A dream is a wish your heart makes" in front of Cinderella's castle while Danny finally proposes to Vicky.

Notable character cameos include Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Child and Dale, Snow White, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Aladdin, Jasmine, Pinnochio, Alice, the White Rabbit and many more.

Quick trivia: During the scene with the girls meeting the Aladdin characters DJ gets so sad that he envisions the Aladdin actor as Steve. Steve was played was Scott Weinger, which was the voice of Aladdin. So DJ's vision was far from fiction!

Another fun fact: This wouldn't be the first time Disney is mentioned in the series. During the first season the family plans a trip to Disneyland. But due to fog their plane ride is canceled and forces the family to go home. This leaves Stephanie all heart broken. Jesse is also depressed, but I won't go into details.

This episodes focuses a lot on Epcot and Fantasy Land.

Rosseane:Its a sure thing that among the millions that enter the parks each day there are many dysfunctional families that forget that they hate each other and just have fun with the Mouse and crew. The Conners were no different.

The story takes place near the end of the series, just as Dan sells his bike shop and gets a compensation of a sort. In typical Rosseane manner instead of saving the money they decide to go on a family trip. They had ideas for all sorts of places they could visit, until Rosseane gets an idea. She remembers a place which has many countries and things to do. You could travel the whole world in a day.

Can you guess which place she is talking about?

Yep, its Disney World. Another 2 parter, the first episode is dedicated to the family planning the trip and their experience on the flight to Orlando. They finally land in the second episode, marvel at the luxury of the hotel and get ready to spend the day.

This being a highly dysfunctional family their experience is very comical and different from the norm. Rosseane and Jackie go on their own and harasses the Disney cast members, Dan goes to Epcot to experience the world's beer, Darlene gets all emo and dark until a visit from Pooh frees her inner child and Becky (second Becky mind you ) flirts with Goofy.

Its one of those rare episodes in which the family gets along and has a happy ending.

That's Disney magic at work, people!

Part of Fantasy land is highlighted, but Epcot is the main centerpiece.

Family Matters: Family Matter's sister series, Full House, had already invaded the Magic Kingdom, so its no surprise that they were next in line to experience the enchantment and delight! BECAUSE THERE'S MORE!

The story is as follow; Steve Urkel has entered a contest which honors inventors. The contest takes place at Disney World's Epcot center. Not so surprising the whole Winslow family decide to tag along with Steve, no matter how annoying he is.

Steve's invention is the phone booth that turns people into cool versions of themselves. Being the first test subject he quickly turns into Stephan, a suave guy that wins Laura's heart quicker than you can say "Did I do that???".

But his invention malfunctions, forcing the contest to be put on hold for three days. In the meantime, the Winslow clan roam the park much to their delight. Carl Winslow is so happy that he decides to retire from the force and move to Florida. This is declared while they are riding "The Tower of Terror".

Carl then comes to his senses and realizes that while Florida is home it would mean alienating his whole family.

Once Steve's invention is fixed he goes back to being nerdy and wins the contest.

I honestly don't remember this episode that much. It came on rarely while the show was on the air. But it was a delight.

Once again, Epcot is the highlight, though other parts of the parks are visited.

So there you have it. Three of the most famous sitcoms ever and their Disney World travels.

Now I ask you, what other series has gone to Disney World or DisneyLand? Which episode is your favorite?

Off the top of my head, I only remember Sabrina the Teenage Witch going there for one episode. She only seemed to go to the Animal Kingdom Park in Florida, and the reason she went was as a "school trip" caused by her quizmaster so that she could take another test for her witches' license.

I haven't seen it in years, but I remember that there was very little "Disney" in the episode, no characters etc.

Boy Meets World I haven't seen this in a few years. I remember Topanga winning a trip to go to Disney World at school, and Cory was worried because another guy was going. So him and Shawn sneaked into WDW, and followed Topanga around.

Something I just realized...

Even though the Disney Channel shows like Hannah Montana are massive hits for the company and have created a pop culture phenomenon they have yet to create an episode that takes place at the Magic Kingdom.

I know the shows are shot on a low budget, but Hannah is producing millions...nay TRILLIONS. Couldn't they put some effort and have an episode in which Hannah is invited to sing at Disney World? Couldn't Zack and Cody win a trip and a hilarious vacation ensues? What if the President of the United States takes a vacation and brings Chef Victor and Cory, along with his two best friends, to Disney?

It would be a massive tie in, for sure, but would be an amusing episode.

I enjoyed reading the article, pap! Brought back fond memories of watching the "Full House" and "Step By Step" Disney episodes during their original run, as well as making sure to catch the syndicated/ABC Family repeats!

Heeeeyyyyyy, that's right! The actors always do segments for Disney 365 and such, but they never have episodes there. I guess the writers could never write an episode without making it seem too much like a WDW/Disneyland commercial?

It's not really a sitcom, but these comedic characters did do a TV special in Disney World. Presenting the Muppets at Walt Disney World!

Even though they weren't really there.
Golden Girls, Sophia and Dorothy went to Walt Disney World for the weekend. Dorothy fearing that her time with her mom, would be short, due to Sophia's age. She kept them in their hotel room all weekend, looking at photos and slides.
The show ended with footage of Space Mountain, and just Sophia's voice saying that was quality time.

Originally titled "The Haunted Mansion", I love that episode! Never saw it in full, but it's still cool. I was really annoyed that it wasn't included in some form on The Haunted Mansion's DVD release like Pirates had an excerpt of "From Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow".

All My Children went to WDW several years back as part of the Jamie/Babe/JR storyline.
