I thought this film was EXCELLENT. The only other comic book film I like better than this is Daredevil. This was so different from other superhero/comic book films in that The Hulk's purpose wasn't to save pedestrians or stop injustice...it's to beat the crap out of anyone who's made his life miserable. I liked how they showed The Hulk had a soft side, though, when around Betty and how even as the Hulk, Bruce can still maintain his mind and have self control. To me one of the best things about this movie was the editing. I *LOVE* how so many of the shots in the film were done in split screen to give it a comic book panel effect. I think this method would've worked well for Spider-man especially considering how comic book-like that film already is. The Hulk could've easily have been one big mindless action movie, but instead Ang Lee made it a deep, complex, and realistic drama with action scenes that didn't grind the story to a halt. Thumbs up!

I saw it and thought it was a great intro the world of the Hulk. Ang Lee crafted this thing beautifully, filling it with interesting characters and unforgettable action. This is a direct throwback to films like King Kong and Frankenstien and I loved it for that. The only thing I didn't like was that I felt the running time went on a bit too long - shortening the ending sequences would've made the film better.

I totally agree. The Hulk might've been a bit too long and drawn out, but I still thought it was a great film and horribly underrated by critics and audiences alike. I have to admit, though, that I can't see the Hulk as a franchise. I think it's because other films like X-Men, Spider-Man, and Daredevil all had closure, but left certain things open for a sequel whereas Hulk felt very concluding and self contained. Last I heard, the sequel was still greenlit and a script was being worked on. Has it been canned?

Well Hulk himself points out some of the unanswered questions:

And it is true. A movie is criticized for not going down the tried and true "Marvel origin story" path, and is called a flop (when in fact, as Hulk points out, that is not the case). Sure, one particular death makes me laugh (you know when the guy is killed, and then a red line is drawn around him. Very camp), but still it had distinct look to it.

I think what let Hulk down were the special effects. Yes, I know it is hard to go a big green monster in a photo-realistic sense. But it never looked quite right in some of the outdoor shots (like much of the Matrix sequels and Van helsing never looked 'quite right'). Otherwise it was one of the more solid stories to come out of recent superhero cinema.

And it keeps Nick Nolte in work and out of trouble!

As for some of the complaints about the film - well, the whole father thing was actually taken from the comics, but given it's own spin I'll admit (In the comics Bruce actually accidently kills his father when a late teenager when defending his mother... it's one of the reasons Bruce took to surpressing his anger, which then came out in the form of the Hulk). But I do think the last 10 minutes or so of the film are incredibly weak, and they don't seem to belong with the rest of the film. It's almost like the creators thought "The films almost over and we have no supervillain for him to fight. Let's turn his dad into one."

Yes, that is exactly how I felt. The ending (everything after the "hug" scene in San Francisco) felt "tacked on".

Otherwise, it would have been a fairly satisfying film.

Besides, any film worthy of a 3-disc setis worthy of a sequel dammit!

well i have took some Zoloft pills this morning. no i'm just kidding. my friends and I like to joke saying that if someone didnt look good in the morning, then that person didnt take his/her Zoloft pills.

well lets back to the topic and instead of making this another personal attack thread! anyways i believe that this sequel might introduce She-Hulk since the Hulk didnt really have a love interest in the first movie.

Er. She-Hulk is his cousin. I don't think the Hulk was from the deep south.
