I'll get all of the Walt Disney Treasures. Apart from those I'm really not sure I'll buy any Disney DVDs at all, even though I guess I will buy if some of the animated "classics" are released in very good DVD editions.

Other (non-Disney) DVDs, for the whole year? Can't really tell by now, but I will buy several, maybe even most, of the upcoming Criterion Collection editions - and quite a few more classics.

The one's that are being budgeted for this year are:

The Treasures (all 4.. wasn't planning on getting them this year though :P )
Any animated Disney release
Mary Poppins
LOTR-ROTK
Star Wars Trilogy

There are many more we would like to get, but we'll see how the money situation is later. This is an expensive year for DVD's.

CAT - youre right. It is an excellent year.

I also see your baby is coming. I had to forgoe a whole lot last year. Equipping a nursery costs a lot of money and becomes the prioity.

Despite the fact I have every Disney animated movie all my one year old wants to watch is "fishy movie" - Finding Nemo.

Crap, I didn't know that. I should be asking YOU if you know anything. Since when has it been removed? This is very disappointing news to me as I don't own Matilda in any format, and I was hoping to see it for the first time in widescreen.

It was originally supposed to be released on January 13th. It was announced as a full frame only edition, and a lot of people complained to Columbia about a special edition being full frame only. Later they pulled it from the release schedule, but Columbia maintains that it was not so they would have time to create a widescreen transfer for it. We don't know why they delayed it, nor do we know if it will have a widescreen transfer when it is re-announced.

Well, that sucks. Even though they claim it's not make a widescreen transfer, I'm hoping Columbia has changed their minds and made it anamorphic widescreen (assuming, of course, the SE is released, period.) They tried this same stunt with Annie. They billed it as a SE, but it was pan and scan and had virtually no substance in terms extras (hence why I haven't bought it). I'm not even concerned with extras for Matilda (though I definitely want some). I just want to own this in anamorphic widescreen on DVD. The extras (if they're better than Annie's, of course) will just be gravy for me as opposed to a selling point.
