Anyway. I would like to know which Disney animation movies you have in your top 10 list? Below is mine.

Ever think of having another contest and posting the results of that contest, and an average of the 1st and 2nd contest. I can't help but think that the results of the first contest were skewed by recently released Disney DVD's and movies going OOP. For example, does the fact that Sleeping Beauty rank 5th have more to do to the fact that the special collector's edition was released than to the quality of the movie? Is it really better than Snow White and Cinderella? Was Lilo and Stitch so special to get 15th, beating out both Dumbo and Bambi? Is Bambi really 17th place material? Another thing is that maybe we should put some kind of handicap on Little Mermaid, Beauty and Beast, Aladdin, and Lion King considering the vast majority of us grew up on these cartoons and hence are severely biased.

Can you imagine the generation of kids in, say, 20-30 years from now, watching "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", "Aladdin" and "The Lion King" and consider it old fashioned Disney? Just like we see the 50s classics today. It'd be so weird but at least I have full confidence that these 4 90s classics will keep entertaining people of all ages for a LONG, LONG, time. They're all winners.

Slash - all opinion is a bias. If we're biased to liking those movies more, then they are in fact the ones we like more, and therefore deserve the higher vote. If that's the case (which it seems to have been), then the reason we liked them is because we grew up on them, and that's entirely legitimate. There will always be re-releases and changing minds, as well as new movies. I don't see any way of getting around that.

Also, HKR, the Survivor game is at the top 10 movies right now as well.

Well, I wasn't so much against bias and opinions... it is just that most people visiting this forum are from the early 90's era. We are too young to be impressioned by older Disney classics and too old to be impressioned by the newer ones It would be great to get votes from people in their 30's to 90's and between the 5 and 15. However the vast majority of people here are between 15 to 25. It is very hard to call it a fari competition.

Well, you're certainly right about that... it's very representative of the demographic for this board, but maybe not for the Disney fan base as a whole. Still, I have to take issue with this comment:

I think that once we start to reach this age, you start to gain an appreciation for films as a whole, as well as their historical context, and all the components on which film is appraised. The biggest problem is people not having seen certain films, I think, and not so much having grown up with them.

That is true and I am able to appreciate the older and newer classics for what they are, but there is just some innocence and nostalgia associated with the ones we grew up with. They are part of our childhood and we will never be able to rank them for what they were. It's like your first crush, first heart break, first kiss, first date, first realization that you are changing... etc. You probably have run into better or worst situations in your life... but all those things that happened during your child teen years just hold such a very special place in your heart and you will always remember them to be much more than they were.
