Anyone remember this one, and what do you think of it? It was made by Don Bluth (who also did The Secret of NIMH, which I didn't ... necessarily like too much, though there was nothing wrong with it; and The Land Before Time). But I think this was his best ...

It was set in the late 1800's, and was about a family of mice (from Russia), terrorized by cats ... so they flee to New York (joining other immigrants), but Fieval, the young mouse, gets lost. And has to find his family again, and avoid the cats.

I'm gonna try to snatch up the DVD (at a Best Buy or something, when I can). Cause I watched it when I was little, and really liked it. And that song (the "Somewhere Out There") is just beautiful, and one of my favorite songs from any movie ...

I remember seeing Fieval Goes West, too, but I saw both of these ... quite a long time ago. But I do remember liking them. Along with Watership Down, I think it's my favorite non-Disney animated film.

I got a Fievel Christmas stocking from McDonald's the winter it came out.

But that has nothing to do with anything. Sorry!

Quite frankly, I don't remember much about it. I saw it in the theater when it came out, but I was very young (I must have been about three or four) and I haven't seen it since. I do know I was particularily fond of Fievel, but at that age, it doesn't say much about the quality of the film.

I love An American Tail, and Fievel Goes West. I have watched both movies alot when I was younger, but I don't remember much about them any more. I can receall a few scenes, but that's about it.

I also loved the song Somewhere Out There! I have even recorded the American Idol episode where Clay Aiken sings Somewhere Out There

I love An American Tail, and Fievel Goes West. Also love to watch The Land Before Time when I was very young.

They were wonderful for me I was young and like almost everything.
My family really likes The Land before time all of the sequels also.
I don't not anymore I just watch it because of family time.

I love An American Tail too, however have passed on the DVD. Instead I am holding off on a definitive two disc special edition, this treasured film deserves.

I remember thinking the first time I watched "An American Tail" when will it ever end!! It's been years since I've seen it, I don't think I've ever seen it again since that first time I watched it. It irritated me so much because they kept walking right past each other every 15 minutes or so. It just got old. I'd much rather watch "The Secret of Nimh." I thought a better job was done with the story in Nimh than in Tail.

The movies were well made and were fun to watch I own the first two VHS's and have seen them many time. However, I have never seen the third one and I can't remember if a fourth one was made.

'Feivel Goes West' is among the greatest animated movies of all time. I was OBSESSED with that movie as a kid.

Plus, the soundtrack was great.

An American Tail is one of my favorites animated films. It's well done and charming. With NIMH, AAT is the best movie made by Don Bluth.

The 3rd one was something like Treasure of Manhattan Island, and there was also a TV spin-off series based on Fieval Goes West.

The thing I remember the most about it was that song, "Somewhere Out There." Great, now that's going to be stuck in my head the rest of the day....

I just watched it ... and it was charming, and sweet. I really like it. And I love that song (Somewhere Out There).

Don't buy An American Tail or Secret of Nimh they are both release in FOOLSCREEN only versions!

funny. I am holding off on Tail, however a few years ago picked up Nimh for around $8.00 I really hope such freat films, like Tail, Nimh, Anastasia, Thumbelina and others come to life in two disc special editions.

The R2 edition of NIMH is widescreen 2.35:1

Yes this was one great movie one of the early Don Bluth films!

This is about a family of mice who move from Communist Russia to the United States Of America Know back then as The Wild Wild West! But best of all no more evil cats who ate you up for a little snack between meals! They were poor in Russia with hardly a bit of cheese but they had a dream to come to America where everybody prospered and the poor became rich!

Well when they come to America their darling son gets lost and he meets dozens of new friends and makes so emenimies

At the end their is a happy ending like in all of the old classic movies!

Beware the sequels that they made were stuped!

Theyre not fullscreen, they're open matte like all other Bluth films on DVD.
