I saw a trailer for this at disney's website:

http://www.disneypictures.com

It looks really really good. Does anyone have any information about this one at all? I can't wait to get this documentary style disney dvd.

On a related note, I'm glad the documentaries are getting their own section: I LOVE Disney documentaries!!

saw trailer. Hopefully, in theaters, we won't have to stand up for 90 minutes, holding on to handrails (not suitable to support the wait of even a child) while the film plays.

this movie has BOMB written all over it.

wait, I'll go so far as to predict that this fill will take < 8m in its first week. <15m for its first three weeks.

OH, here comes another bomb from Disney studios...

... which is a shame, because I look forward to seeing it.

Hey I always loved Circle Vision.

Who on earth needs a bar to hold themselves up for 15 minutes anyway?

I can't see this film doing that well. There are some fantastic scenery shots, but it seems to me that making a movie based on a lot of people talking about themselves is a snoozefest.

I can't say that any of the people in the trailer made me curious enough to know about their life story (with the possible exception of the blind mountain climber).

This seems like an odd venture. It doesn't interest me at all, but I guess this genre really isn't my thing. Therefore, I don't know if it's just me, or if it actually looks boring.

I'm actually really looking forward to this picture. I also DON'T think this picture will bomb for a couple of reasons:

1. It was an independant film that didn't cost much
2. It is getting only a limited release, so money will not be spent on advertising and TV spots, however the art theater films get good word of mouth out about these types of movies so it should draw an audience
3. While this is the director's debut, he has been involved with such successful films like Erin Brokovich

This film is not meant to cater to the general public (hence it is only getting a limited release), so I can understand that some people would not enjoy this film or want to see it. However, I feel that this is going to be an excellent film and am looking forward to this more than I was many other Disney movies (i.e. The Lizzie McGuire movie, Teacher's Pet the movie, etc.). I will drive out of town just to get to a theater to see this movie. I can't wait :)

By the way, what is all this about circlevision? This movie is NOT a circlevision movie and you don't have to stand up the whole time. If you tell people that that's all this is, then they won't go to a movie that they might otherwise have enjoyed. I, for one, would like to know more TRUTHFUL comments about this movie.

As stated earlier, does anyone have any information about this movie?

I think you can attribute this misinformation about the movie to an attempt at online over-negativity. It sounds like an interesting premise, not something that I would expect from Disney. It could be interesting, I'll have to find out more about it. I think that the Sacred Planet movie might be cool seeing on the IMAX screen. Perhaps this Heart and Soul film would benefit from such a screening?

"Continuing in the Disney tradition of such financial disasters as Around the World in 80 Days and Hidalgo, Heart and Soul promises to complete the Three Strikes bloodbath of recent Disney films. Look for it briefly at your $1 cinema then, maybe, on video."

Hey, and I'm a fan!

There is a new Disney documentary that looks really good. It's about what makes America so great. I would really like to see it, but it's not playing in my area yet. Maybe our area will get it if it get's popular. If it's in your area, go see it, and tell us how it is. Make sure to tell all your freinds.

I doubt it cost a lot of money. It doesn't have to do $100m+ to even break even. I'm sure it will be a protiftable and enjoyable film.

BoxOfficeMojo has their 4 day weekend estimates up. 4 limited releases are in the 20 movies listed.

The Clearing 56 screens. $647,000, $11,553 per screen.
De-Lovely 16 screens. 384,000, $24,000 per screen.
Before Sunset 20 screens. $303,000, $15,150 per screen.
America's Heart & Soul 98 screens. $173,000, $1,765 per screen. BOMB

BTW Spider-Man 2 did $27,000 per screen.
Fahrenheit did $12,000 per screen (& it is the only of these 6 movies in it's second week).

Heart & Soul could still make it to July's home video schedule with those kind of numbers.

Seems like a number of people were predicting I'd be wrong about the financial, cough cough, success of Heart and Soul.

Let me spin this out in practical terms:

America's Heart & Soul 98 screens. $173,000, $1,765 per screen. BOMB

Assumptions:

(1) each screen showed the film six times a day (Noon, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10).
(2) Ticket price was $7 (some places more, some less, but that's a reasonable average even factoring in $6 twilight shows and $5.50 kiddie tickets.)

With these assumptions, this means that the AVERAGE ATTENDANCE FOR EACH SCREENING WAS LESS THAN 10 PEOPLE!!!

i would rather see this documentary than see Michael Moore's documentary movie out now.
