From
DVDFile:
Just in from Buena Vista Home Entertainment is the announcement of a
first-ever DVD release
(??? - Loomis) for Disney's 1998 animated smash
Mulan. Streeting on
October 26th, the studio will heavily market the title along with their upcoming Platinum Edition of Aladdin. While bonus features have not yet been announced, this
two-disc set will feature a remastered anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, bonus featurettes, games and more to come. Retail will be $29.95, and stay tuned for the full details in the coming weeks.
I found it very odd that they said "first ever DVD" when there was a barebones out only a few years ago. Anyhoo, could be good news!

Yaaay! I've only seen this movie once and loved it, but didn't want to pay the extra cost for the OOP Limited Edition.

I wonder if it will be a Masterpiece Edition? I am not a huge fan of "Mulan," but I did like it and would definatley buy this 2-disc set. I am not at all excited about the two sequels coming out, and if "Mulan 2" is a 2-disc set like "Lion King 1.5," I am going to get really upset becuase there are so many other great movies that deserve a 2nd disc. Did the film of "Lion King 1.5" take up so much room on the disc that they couldn't fit the making of and games? I figure that if Disney can cram so much stuff onto the single disc of "The Haunted Mansion," than they probably could have made LK1.5 one disc. The second disc seemes like a waste of plastic to me.

Whoa, I think it's coming out too quick. They need to wait so they can get some really good bonus features, so will this be a "Plantinum Edition" also?
WAIT A MINUTE! I think this is to promote the video sequel due out around the same time aint it?!

I find it sort of strange that itd be coming out in october without any advertising from any recently released dvds(Ie. Pocahontas, Lilo and Stitch Masterpiece Editons). Nevertheless, this is real good news! That would really suck if its a mixup and its actually Mulan 2 with a 2 disc set.

If this is true, its simply fantastic news. Even if the 2-Disc ends up being underwhelming, its great to have a chance at owning Mulan after its been OOP. Here's hoping that Hercules isn't far off either.

Wooo-hoo!!! This is GREAT, GREAT news!!!
Obviously, the new 2-disc set is a chance to cross-promote the original movie with the crappy sequel, but who cares... This is great news ideed!
Let's hope they include all those deleted scenes and art materials that are in the vault!!!

This is good news, if it is true, like everyone has said. It does seem a little soon, but there has already been one limited issue to have 2 releases so far (Peter Pan) so with that taken into consideration, maybe it is time for it to be out again.

My sentiments exactly, Jack. I was not fortunate enough to pick this up the first time, so the chance to own ANY edition of it is good enough for me. Any bonus features are just gravy.
However, being a vegetarian I should have a problem with gravy. I should also have a problem with "barebones" releases, because it means someone ate the meat. Hmm....
I would say at the very least there will be some cross-promotion for the new movie(s), given they are meant to be having an Octoberish release.

I also own the original Limited Issue edition, but since I'm a sucker for bonus features and better transfers, this is a must-buy.
Anyway, now that it was said here that they may be mixing up the films (Mulan and Mulan 2), it comes to my mind that "Mulan 2" is advertised as a "special edition" in the sneak peak sections of the DVDs. Hmm, "first time ever on DVD"?

I agree completely also, I didn't get the other editions, and am highly looking foward to this one! It's great I can get Mulan and Mulan 2!

I think we'll be seeing some cool bonus stuff for both dvd's!

Can't wait for it to come out. Now to get rid of my mint Limited Issue (but not until I am totally sure that it is the original Mulan they are putting out).

A bit strange that this comes out before editions that have gotten far more fanfare (i.e. Pocahontas and Lilo), but awesome news none the less. Mulan is one of those films that really grew on me with repeated viewings, and though I already own the Gold Classic disc, I'm definitely picking this up. The best part is it comes out 2 days after my birthday, so I think we can all guess where my birthday money's going to.

Here's hoping we see Hunchback and/or Hercules some time next year.

You wouldn't have a problem with white gravy, which is made with flour and water and seasonings, would you?
As for the barebones issue, maybe you should marrow down your choices of DVDs to purchase.

I don't see this at DVDFile.
Is it possible that somehow DVDFile got Mulan 2-Disc out of "Mulan 2"?

That's a dead link for me, so maybe it's just in your cache?
