Hi,

Can someone please confirm why over here in the UK Jungle Book 2 on dvd was classed as a 'Classic' I thought that Classic only related to the masterpieces !!!

I noticed the US cover did not have any mention of the word Classic on that !

Well i don't know for sure but I suggest that you contact 2099net he knows a lot about the UK DVD'S!

dvd's labeled as classic in region2 sell better than those that are not. That's why they labeled JB2 and Piglet as classics... while they are really not classics.... far from it imo

Thanks for the intro & info... kind of strange though for Disney to add the sub heading 'Classic' to such films when they are clearly not !! imo too !

Here in Finland (region 2) JB2 and Piglet aren't labeled as classics!!

It is just another of those wacky things Disney International does to confuse the hell out of consumers so they won't buy their products.

JB2 had a "classics" label on the cover here - but I don't think that makes any difference. Disney has never really been consistent with the naming of the series, even in the US (look at the whole Vault/SE thing...).

Personally I have no interest in what films Disney self appoints as classics or masterpieces, so it's not something I've ever paid any attention to.

I believe the UK follows the US model of only counting films animated in America by Walt Disney Feature Animation as classics, and Disney number these films as part of the blurb on the back of the case. For example "Disney's 21st Animated Classic" (Robin Hood).

I'm not sure, as I have the US Jungle Book 2, but the "classics" on the cover could just be from pre-release artwork - originally Return to Never Land was labeled as a classic in some early publicity, but was altered to "Pictures Presents". If it is still on the cover art, it is probably a mistake (and believe me, Buena Vista Home Entertainment UK have made worse mistakes), especially if there is not number in the blurb on the back.

Disney UK give out a checklist with their DVDs, the latest I have from The Lion King 3 does not list The Jungle Book 2 as a "classic".

The Jungle Book 2 is also labeled as a 'Classic' in Region 3.
