Am I the only person to be completely dissapointed by Chicken Little preview? I think that was the first CGI preview that left me feeling complete apathy and dislike for it. Something about the main character and the way the story was introduced left me thinking completely lame. I hope this is not the reason Disney killed 2d. Ironically, I believe Disney will be the first company to create a big CGI flop.

They already did . . . Dinosaur! But I didn't get to see the preview yet. Does anyone have a site where I could see it? Once I do, I'll post my opinion.

Why do people refer to Dinosaur as a 'flop'? It made well over $100 million in the U.S. and much more overseas. Perhaps dissapointing, but it was far from a flop.

I believe 2099net already brought this out in another thread, but Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was the first CGI flop in 2001. Had a huge production budget, and only made a little over $30 million domestically. People don't always think of it as a CG animated film, but that's what it was.

Concerning Chicken Little: I wouldn't judge the movie too much off of the trailer, which really didn't give much of a clue as to what the final movie will be. Personally, I find it hard to form an opinion on it so early.

It looks funny, but looks to lack the detail or warmth of Pixar's pictures. Still, for an early teaser trailer, this does look promising.

Personally, I like it. I like the modern (but not so modern that it dates the movie) humor. I also like the look of the film. It's not Pixar quality at all, but it has a sort of storybook illustration feel to it, and due to the very fluid camera movements, it seems the CGI will help the film rather than just be a gimmick. Bring it on.

Going simply by the trailer, it reminds me a bit of the feel of the Wallace and Gromit shorts. I think it has potential... We'll see if that potential is realized.

While I don't think it has as much promise or appeal as Pixar's trailor for "The Incredibles," I found the trailor ammusing. I don't like the voice of Chicken Little, but the characters are cute and the world they live in, while not a major breakthrough in CG animation, looks like a fun setting for a story. I think the trailor is very funny. Especially when a reporter starts rambling on to chicken about everything that happened, to which he responds "was there a question in there?" I think it could be good. Although the style does somewhat remind me of "Jimmy Neutron."

that is just a teaser.. the finished animation will look different and Chicken Little is only 20% finished (the actual animation) So there is simply no way you can tell wether the actual movie will be bad or not... considering this teaser doesnt do much more than announce its 2005 release date... I didnt even see any introduction to the story...

Well, if that's the case, you have to question if it is wise to begin to promote a project with unfinished visuals.

I know everything is about hype and promotion (and art come way down on the list) these days, but surely Disney could have waited a little longer?

I dont think this film will flop because viewers do become sheep once in a while and will go see this film because it is Disney's first 3D film minus Pixar in the post 2D era

I doubt most of the SHEEP will even know or care if it is Pixar or not. They will just see Disney and the CGI animation.

Well, early promotion has worked for many of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters. The teasers for the "Star Wars" films and "Harry Potter" films usually come out almost a year before the films release. And Disney probably sees the Pixar has started their "The Incredibles" campaign more than a year early. (It was shown with "Finding Nemo" in theaters back in May.) I think it is wise of Disney to try to get ahead of the game. It is only on the "Brother Bear" DVD, which is selling quite nicely. Maybe this early add campaign will earn it some success, although I would rather see it do worse than "Brother Bear" so Disney will go back to 2D. I wish that these two mediums could co-exist in peace.

Pixar didnt start the Incredibles campaign... Disney does that... Disney does distribution, so it was Disney that decided to start an early campaign for Incredibles.

I heard that Eisner pulled the plug on the movie last week, unfortunatley.

Pulled the plug on "Chicken Little?" Why would he do that after millions of people have now seen the teaser trailor? Where did you hear this?

At work. Apparently word trickled down to Anaheim from Burbank, but I didn't buy into it. I would think SOMEONE would have broke the story by now if it were true. But I have heard it more and more.

You can see a teaser trailer on the Brother Bear DVD. I think it looks kinda good. I like Zach Braff from "Scrubs" so I'll see it. We'll have to wait and see if it will be a "flop". I think Disney is trying to prove that Pixar is not the only one that can make a good CGI film.

What do you base this on? A single preview?

I have seen previews that made films looks fantastic (the last 2 Matrix movies) and have sucked completely. Alternatively, some movies are just marketed badly (Brother Bear).

Have you - and seemingly a lot of other people - already given up on Disney simply because they are no longer doing our grandfather's films? Does 3D=crap automatically for some of you? I agree with goofystitch for the most part - why can't we all just like animation because Disney is putting it out, regardless of whether it is 2D, 3D or 6D (that is where the fart jokes that pervade most modern animation come to life!).

I for one am willing to wait and actually see the film before I condemn it or praise it.
