So my question is sort of in two halves:

1. What are some non-Disney animated films you love as much as your favorite Disney films?
2. And if Disney came to own them (or already does own them by now), would you like to seem them combined with WDAS' brand and marketed with Disney characters? For example, I mean something akin to Anastasia or Thumbelina becoming a part of the Disney Princess line. The films being counted as their own numbers in the WDAS currently 60-film canon. Featured in storybook treasuries and other multi-film merchandise along WDAS' classics. Etc.

Harry potter/Wizarding world/fantastic beasts
In my mind, it is already Disney, So Of course I would Truly love to have Disney purchase it and keep it so many amazing opportunities with a high budget and hopefully with the same kind of creative freedom that they give Pixar And Marvel

Even if its something I like more, when it comes to acquisitions I dont really care for too many cross over things. At the end of the day, its still not really part of the canon.

There aren't too many movies that I would put toe to toe with disney. I can see why some might do so with Anastasia, many thought it even was disney back in the day.
Same goes for the Land before Time. I recently watched prince of Egypt for the first time, I was aware of it as a kid but it didn't grab my interest until a friend insisted I watch it. Its probably a bit too religious to be in the same category as a disney movie, but I think there were plenty of disney animators on that movie if I recall? It probably deserves more credit than it gets.

But again, doesn't really fit the brand.

The Iron Giant? An American Tail?

THought I don't want crossovers, or inclusion into the Princess Line. Heck, even Merida shouldn't be in it.

These are mostly nostalgia since I saw the majority of them on TV as a kid:

The Water Babies
The Secret of NIMH (saw it on video)
Jack and the Beanstalk with Gene Kelly (I have only seen it once, so I have no idea what it would be like to see it today)
The Humpbacked Horse
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Personally I think Disney and non-Disney movies should be kept separated.

Disney bought pretty much all of my favorites like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I love Anastasia and I think it (but not Thumbelina) could be included in the Disney Princess lineup but only because
I think that’s all a marketing thing anyway. I don’t think it should be in the WDAS canon mostly because that would screw up numbering, but could have its own numbering system like Pixar does. While not without it’s flaws, in my opinion it’s a more enjoyable film than many in the WDAS canon such as Home on the Range, Chicken Little, and Meet the Robinsons.

I know that I`m repeating myself, but regarding the Disney knock offs which I love as much as Disney`s best, then it`s The Swan Princess. But considering that it`s a Disney wannabe in every sense, it makes sense to put it on this list.

The only non-Disney movie I love is Anastasia. I have always loved it, ever since I got the VHS when I was a kid. But I don't think I'd like to see her in the Disney Princess line. Even though she's drawn in the same style as the Princesses, I love her on her own. Another one I was very fond of was Quest for Camelot. I recently re-watched it, and I was so surprised to see it wasn't as good as I remembered it. But I have always thought that the heroine, Kayley looks a lot like Belle in Beauty and the Beast. Their physical features are very similar.

Thumbelina is really bad. The animation is gorgeous, and some of the songs are really nice. Jodi Benson's performance of Soon is gorgeous. And Let Me Be Your Wings is so much like A Whole New World. But the story is kinda bad. I was really surprised, because I was expecting it to be a lot better. This was my first viewing ever.

Well, the truth is I've never liked Anastasia aside from the music. I just used that as an example for what I mean, since I know there are many here that do. The only non-Disney princess-like characters I would be interested in being included in the DP line in that way would really just be Thumbelina and Odette from TSP. I actually like Thumbelina a great deal despite the cutesy bug characters. While I like Crysta from FernGully, not sure I'd want that for that character.

Anyway, for me, I'd love to see the Don Bluth films absorbed in for sure since even the worst of them (All Dogs Go to Heaven and Titan A.E.) aren't any farther down the hole than some of Disney's dark age films. Balto and FernGully: The Last Rainforest are two other ones; how nice it would be for all of those films to be owned by a company that would give them a restoration. I wouldn’t mind if Disney simply brought The Nightmare Before Christmas into the WDAS numbered canon fold for that matter, rather than it being off to the side as "Touchstone." Maybe the same with the Laika films if that company ever went belly-up a decade or two for now, because those films are all quality. I would never want it with Ghibli films simply because their style is so distinguish-ably different from Disney; some of these others feel a little different, but not so far off that it would be weird like it would with Ghibli to me. I wouldn't mind it with The Swan Princess and Anastasia even though the former's designs are uglier than most WDAS hand-drawn films and the latter's animation is way too stiff and rotoscoped.

I never really thought about Dreamworks films that somebody mentioned. But truthfully I think that company’s days are numbered, partly because Katzenberg seems checked out of it all; I expect Disney would buy up ownership of their films since they have some kind of deal with them now as it is in regards to TV viewership or something? I suppose I would love if The Road to El Dorado and The Prince of Egypt were taken in this way. A lot of their 3D films are kind of horrid in the way they attempt to be hip; even the ones I like such as HTTYD, KFP, The Boss Baby, Rise of the Guardians, etc.--they feel distinctly un-Disney somehow (even where current Disney is) that I'm not sure I'd want it.

Who doesn't love some non-Disney films as much or more than some favorite Disney ones?! And yeah let Disney just own everything everybody likes and have no individuality anymore that's a good thing.

Prince of Egypt hands down one of the best animated films ever. Absolutely breathtaking and gorgeous. And no, it needs no association or tie-ins with Disney brands. A

no I wouldn't want any of these included in the Disney canon but I would like new merch! especially for Anastasia! Dont know why Disney couldn't make an Anastasia anniversary merch line and sell it on Shopdisney as specialty limited edition items.

curious, what didn't you like about Anastasia? I think its fantastic as a musical and very pretty but felt all the stuff with Rasputin was unnecessary. If they wanted to use Rasputin they should have tried being closer to the actual history, made him more of a mysterious foreboding figure but not cartoony evil. Knowing what I know now about what really happened to the Romanov's what they did in this film as far as historical accuracy was just as bad as what Disney did with Pocahontas. I guess I just try to enjoy both as alternate universe takes on history.

Well, I mean, it's happening whether we want it to or not. That war's already lost. I'm at least thinking of what possible benefits could come out of that.

I forgot to say what my favorite non-Disney films are: FernGully, Balto, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, The Boxtrolls, Coraline, My Neighbors the Yamadas, Kung Fu Panda / KFP2, The Land Before Time, The Swan Princess, and The Prince of Egypt are the first to come off the tongue. (In no particular order)

You mean that Disney is buying so much? Yes, that is happening. But the only example of them turning something non-Disney into something Disney I can think of is Merida in the Disney Princess line.

They combine PIXAR with Disney all the time these days, and considering I despise most PIXAR movies, none of these other films being combined with them in marketing could possibly be worse.

I think other than Merida they really keep the two as individual things. If you've seen otherwise, let me know with examples, please. Otherwise I just have to disagree.
