Variety.com is reporting that film director/producer Richard Donner has passed away at the age of 91. As of the time of this post's publication, no cause is known.

While perhaps most famous for directing and/or producing films made at non-Disney studios (such as 1978's "Superman" and 1985's "The Goonies"), Donner directed and/or produced such Disney-owned films (primarily from the 20th Century Studios library) as "X-Men" (2000; exec. producer only), "The Omen" (1976), "Ladyhawke" (1985; outside of North America only) and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (2009; exec. producer only).

R.I.P. Richard Donner

He's made some great movies. His Superman movie is definitely one of the most important and influential superhero movies of all time, whose influence can still be seen in a lot of other beloved films of the genre. Even the MCU owes a lot to that movie and it's legacy.

His films were full of heart like the eternal spirit of youth of The Goonies, to opening the world of imagination making people believe that man could fly with Superman.

May he RIP. :(
