I knew it! No way Disney is scared of utilizing this property. Zootopia 2 can't be far behind. <3

So this will be parodies of titles on Disney+? I like that kind of cheap humor so I’m here for this.

They told very little, but apparently it will be about the habitants of Zootopia

That’s a pretty vague description. I’m just guessing from the “+” sign in the title (and the previous rumors) that it will probably be some kind of parody of Disney+ shows/movies. They’ve already shown quite a penchant for using those kinds of jokes in the Zootopia universe anyway.

You know, I feel bad. With a sequel being unknown, it's great that it's being a TV show. But...that's it? I feel it deserves a lot more than a tiny series featuring the small characters. But, I did love Fro Fro and Nick's little sidekick, so I'm glad to see them again :)

Going by the description, it doesn't seem it's going to be a parody, but rather just short stories involving Zootopia's secondary characters. It seems innocuous enough. I'm OK with it. I hate the title though. Literally anything else would have been better.
Zootopia+ heads back to the fast-paced mammal metropolis of Zootopia in a short-form series directed by Trent Correy and Josie Trinidad. Zootopia+ dives deeper into the lives of some of the feature film’s most intriguing characters, including Fru Fru, the newly married arctic shrew; Gazelle’s talented tiger dancers; and the sloth full of surprises, Flash. The short-form series debuts on Disney+ in Spring 2022.

Well, the parody aspect of it is that each episode will spoof a popular TV show:

I don't like the title either, but since each episode will be like a different TV series I guess they had to find a general name like that to give to the entire collection of shorts.

I imagine Mr. Big's daughter will imitate Teresa Giudice turning over a table. Too bad it's likely G-rated, because I'd die to hear her squeak-screaming "PROSTITUTION WHORE!!!" (Yes, I'm ashamed I know any of this since I hate the Real Housewives.)

Well, that's disappointing. Making parodies of TV shows feels cheap.

They could have called it "Tales from Zootopia" or something. It's very easy to come up with a better title. There is no excuse.

Don't you mean "Tails from Zootopia"?

I'm not into reality television so I'm indifferent here. In fact I thought Real Housewives had died out years ago. (Checking Wikipedia corrects my assumption.)

I'd say I'm looking forward to the (hypothetical) American Idol parody (tangent: I thought this died too, but apparently ABC revived it a couple years ago). If Disney has the guts to make a short about singing animals, anyway. :mischief:

Regarding the parody element of this series, I guess they were inspired by the parody posters they made for Zootopia's promotion.

You're right, there are many titles that would've been better than the one they chose.

 That would've been a very fitting title. It's a shame it didn't occur to them.

I hope the next story focus on something else than the racism metaphor. Using animals and extraterrestrials for this purpose has never worked with me because it is so very different from the real world that it is impossible to identify.
Humans belongs to the same species, and all races are able to produce fertile offspring.
In Zootopia we have different species, families and animal orders. And they do not mix with each other. They couldn't even if they wanted to, with a few exceptions (a brown bear could cross with a polar bear, for instance). You will not see a half squirrel and half crocodile, or some animal that is a mix of eight different species from.
The same with aliens from various planets (unless we're talking about Star Trek, where klingons and vulcans etc can have children with humans).
Imagine if there was more than one species of humans, some were furry, others smaller than hobbits, giants, natural born herbivores or natural born predators that despite their intelligens still ate their more vegetarians relatives now and then. Then we would have been in the same situation as the concepts in movies and shows like this, and one could relate to them.
The closest thing we could do with animals is to populate a city with various dog breeds, which looks different, some more than others, but can still reproduce with each other.

Also hope we will see bats and primates in a future Zootopia concept.

Definitely interested to see the shorts with Bogo and Judy's parents. The sloth one will probably be worth a laugh at least.

That image actually made me excited to revisit the world of Zootopia. By the way, it just occurred to me that maybe the title of this series of shorts could be a reference to Disney+. I mean, perhaps Zootopia+ is like the streaming service of this world where all these parodies of shows are streamed.

Are you saying that Zootopia+ is the name of a streaming service they have over there? That wouldn't make sense since streaming services are usually named after companies or studios and not after cities or other locations. Not to mention, that would imply that a ridiculous amount of the city's inhabitants are part of reality TV shows. I think the title was selected to hammer into the audience that the show is airing on Disney+ and to give a sense of the nature of the series; that it's just a small, additional taste of the world of Zootopia and nothing more substantial given that the series constitutes of shorts focusing on various secondary characters and not our protagonists.

I guess you're right. It's true that streaming services don't tend to have locations as names; that's more common with TV channels. And what you said about the nature of the series makes sense. By the way, do you think it'll be as if the citizens of Zootopia would actually take part in these TV programs or will they just show their lives in the style of them? I first thought it would be the latter, but now I'm not 100% sure.

I believe it will be the latter. Think of Pixar Popcorn, but longer.
