And we had our first workshop in the age of Zoom workshops, and … as a lifelong theater nerd, to combine that love and ‘Night at the Museum’ — to see it come to life with these characters and songs and Alan Menken songs — that’s been kind of a dream.”

Finally, the Beauty and the Beast composer teased his work on a stage version of Night at the Museum saying: "I completed a musical of Night at the Museum which is now in discussion with directors, and when the pandemic ends we are ready to go."

Alan Menken wrote:We have a musical of Night at the Museum which I'm really excited about. We've really found some deep taproots in telling that story. Taproots about extinction and universality of all these life forms that are in the museum that come to life in it. As well as kind of a tribute to the golden age of New York because among the people who started the museum was Teddy Roosevelt and his father in 1877. So, sort of the gilded age of New York.

Alan Menken wrote:Night at the Museum is done, pretty much. It's ready now for our readings and then will go into production. It's obviously a big musical. I'm very excited about that.
