Does the Night at the Museum project date from before Disney bought Fox or?

Re: Alan Menken News & Discussion
^ I'm not sure. The only info I can find is from today. I think I was thinking of the previously-announced remake movie, not musical...

Re: Alan Menken News & Discussion
That's great news! Fingers crossed it won't get canceled (it happens a lot with stage projects) and he won't be replaced (like he was on the Mrs. Doubtfire musical).

Re: Night at the Museum on Broadway
I wonder if this project is actually going to produced by Disney. Fox properties now fall under the Buena Vista Theatrical banner which mainly functions as a licensing arm. If this deal was made prior to the Fox acquisition, it's definitely not going to be Disney, but if it was made after there's the possibility Disney decided to develop internally some family-friendly Fox IP for the stage and not just put up everything for licensing.

Source: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-a ... shawn-levy“We have been writing the ‘Night at the Museum’ musical for Broadway for the last year and a half. And we had our first workshop in the age of Zoom workshops, and … as a lifelong theater nerd, to combine that love and ‘Night at the Museum’ — to see it come to life with these characters and songs and Alan Menken songs — that’s been kind of a dream.”

Alan Menken gives an update on the musical:

Re: Night at the Museum on Broadway
Alan Menken proved me completely wrong with Sister Act not working as a musical so although this seems completely random I'll hold off my judgement

Updates from Alan Menken.
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlGruZbmxlEAlan Menken wrote:We have a musical of Night at the Museum which I'm really excited about. We've really found some deep taproots in telling that story. Taproots about extinction and universality of all these life forms that are in the museum that come to life in it. As well as kind of a tribute to the golden age of New York because among the people who started the museum was Teddy Roosevelt and his father in 1877. So, sort of the gilded age of New York.
