Audio Quality: Disney CDs vs Downloads

When I'm in my car, most of the music I listen to is ripped from CDs onto a thumb drive. I know that The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, for example, have had updated CD soundtracks since 1989/1992, but what about Hunchback or Hercules, for example? The songs just play softer than my other music. And if I download those soundtracks, is the audio quality better than the old CDs?

I agree some of the songs are really low. What I do with my CD rips or downloads I use a program to make the audio louder. I don’t remember the name lol  but it starts with an A. I love it! I’m able to edit the songs too. Hopefully this helps. I will get the name for you and it’s free to download as well.

Different studios/sound mixers master at different volume levels, its not really a mark of quality. Many songs get mixed too loud, to the point where some of the sound gets clipped. If its softer than other tracks, they could just be playing it safe so you get the maximum dynamic range.

^ That makes sense, Kyle. For THOND & Hercules, I figured because the CDs are older, they're quieter?
