Variety.com is reporting that Peter Mayhew, the original Chewbacca, has passed away at age 74.

Been so depressed since hearing this news.
He brought so much joy to people all over the world and on top of that, he was so kindhearted and loving with all his fans, not just in person but also through his social media presence. The one consolation is that I know he's probably hanging out with Carrie and Kenny right now so that makes things a little easier.

Did you know that there is indeed a place where you can actually hear what Peter Mayhew actually sounded like? (And I'm not talking about the unedited BTS footage from A New Hope, either!)
In 2004, Mayhew voiced the character "Susha" in "Dragon Ball GT: A Hero's Legacy," making Mayhew one of the few voice actors in the history of Funimation Entertainment's licensing of the Dragon Ball franchise to not be a member of the company's regular roster of voice actors.
