Bo Peep will star in her own short called "Lamp Life" that will chronicle her journey before Toy Story 4.

I guess this is the short that was going to be in the Toy Story 4 Blu-ray.

Yeah, it's obvious Pixar had nothing specifically created for the streaming service so they took shorts they planned for training purposes and home video and pretended they were designed for the service. I just hope this doesn't mean the shorts won't be released on Blu-ray.
Anyway, I wonder if this short is just a deleted sequence that didn't make it into the final film like Auntie Edna was.

A brief clip was shown, depicting what appeared to be Bo’s intervening years between Molly’s room and the antique shop. Unfortunately, the only format I’ve seen it in was Instagram stories, which isn’t readily shareable, even on there. But in it, we see Bo go from being a frat house lamp, enduring crazy parties, to life on a ship. Her light is covered with moths at one point, and another scenario blankets her in snow that gusts in through a window. Throughout all of this, she isn’t wearing her bonnet, and thanks to a print that was given out during another autograph session with Valerie LaPointe, I think we have our answer as to how she lost it…

Bo originally went into great detail about what happened to her after she left Andy's house in a flashback. We saw her given to a new family, placed in storage for years, donated, brought at a thrift store, given as a white elephant gift, and then broken accidentally by a child. Bo then made a huge choice and left that kid. She and her sheep traveled through the rain and cover of night to create a new life at the antique store. Although emotional, the flashback was ultimately cut from Toy Story 4 and was then evolved into Lamp Life.

Was there even a short on the Blu-ray or are they going to put them on Disney plus from now on instead?

Kinda surprised they used Jim Hanks instead of Tom, I thought they were kinda done doing that for major shorts.

Disney mainly uses Jim Hanks for video games, computer games, toys and theme park attractions. Thanks for the info, estefan! These are the little interstitial shorts you mentioned, right? I think I had seen some of them before but I didn't know they were made for that purpose. I just watched Lamp Life, and I’m not entirely joking when I say: “does Bo Peep have a death wish?” She’s an easily breakable porcelain doll who wants to be played with by random children who won’t value her in any way— even worse, their parents won’t value her in anyway either. I know my prediction that she’d break and “die” at the end of TS4 didn’t come true... but now that the franchise has allowed her to move beyond her placid life as a lamp, I can’t help but think there’s no way she can survive very long as an actual plaything.

I watched the short too the other day and I found it a bit disappointing. To me it doesn't feel like a short. It feels more like a deleted scene, which is what it was originally.

You knew that's what it was, but still expected more? I havent seen it yet, I wont be able to unless I find alternate way (not subbing to disney plus just for this) but I'm just expecting a deleted scene/sequence. maybe I'll think "oh that was neat, they could've left that in"but that's abot it.
I did find it in Spanish, but not English. oof.

I also found it just in Spanish from Latin America. I didn't expect much more, but I think with Jack-Jack Attack and Auntie Edna, two Pixar shorts that also started as deleted scenes, they managed to make them feel more like complete stories with a beginning, middle and end. Anyway, I've watched it again and I appreciated it more this time. In my opinion, they were right to delete the scene from the movie because it's not too relevant for the plot, but it's enjoyable to watch nonetheless.Kyle wrote:You knew that's what it was, but still expected more?
