Will “Home Improvement” ever get a hi-def release?
Will “Home Improvement” ever get a hi-def release?
I’ve been a big fan of “Home Improvement” for a long time now and have hoped that it would get a proper high-definition release. I collected all the individual season DVD box sets, and while they are quite watchable, I feel that the picture quality is not as good as it could be, and the bonus features for the most part are disappointing. There’s already been two notable anniversaries that Disney could have used as an opportunity to give the season a proper hi-def release (the 20th and 25th anniversary), but nothing ever emerged. So, what do people think? Will we ever see “Home Improvement” in hi-def, or will the DVDs be the final word on the series?

I don't believe the show was even shot on film to do so. Am I wrong?

It was shot on SD video tape.
They could what Sony did for Fraggle Rock and released HQ upscaled transfers on Blu.

I highly doubt we'll get an HD release on home video, we're probably stuck with the existing DVD releases. TV series on Blu-Ray has all but totally fizzled out, and even the amount of shows being issued on standard DVD seems to be declining, especially for older series. If you have Hulu the series is available there, and it looks pretty good.
