Tommy “Tiny” Lister (Finnick) just revealed a third one might already be planned.

I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We doing three of them… We the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was 240 million. This one I’m hearing will be 300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising.

If this turns out to be true, it would make Zootopia the first trilogy from WDAS. Unless, of course, Frozen gets there first.

I mean, I'd rather they milk this over something like cars or frozen. But obviously I'd rather they put their talents/resources elsewhere.

I already know the plot to Zootopia 3.

Nick and Judy are having a big wedding, but it's crashed by a big robbery in the city. Nick soon finds out his dad, surprisingly alive, is the leader of a team of bandits that steals from wealthy neighborhoods to help poorer ones. Nick needs to decide between helping out his dad or doing his job as a police officer and turning him in.

...okay I may have repurposed the plot to Aladdin 3 with a bit of Robbin Hood, 'cause I doubt a plot to Z3 even exists right now, but meh.

If they are as good as the first, I don't mind if they make a trilogy. But I'd also prefer they focused on original films than on sequels.

I believe (and hope) that both this and Frozen do become trilogies. This at least has the kind of setup made for sequels with the possibility of a different case per movie, and Frozen I just straight up love and want to see more done with. They're both billion dollar money-makers, which made it inevitable.

After its disappointing box office earnings, I doubt it. Yes, it grossed a little over the original but Disney likes big money-makers, not modest successes.

The DisInsider: That is an untrue rumor. Disney is discussing a sequel but not a 3rd film.

It seems a little early to be discussing Zootopia 3 when we haven't even had official confirmation for a first sequel yet. I imagine that after WIR2 performed below expectations, that Disney suddenly became more wary of planning a franchise for something untested. As well as the first film did, it hasn't captured the public consciousness the way Frozen did and the merchandise for the film was incredibly nonexistent. I'm not sure why, since Disney has no problems marketing The Lion King. Hopefully, the Shanghai park expansion will help Disney release the film's appeal.

If the second film does as well, or around the same, as the first, I'm sure a third film will be in the works as well.
