I'm definitely scratching my head at how a two-and-a-half hour stage show translates to two presumably two hour movies. And if "Wicked" fans hate how Part I is adapted, there would probably a significant drop in attendance for Part II. Universal is really betting the fanbase of "Wicked" is large enough to justify two films. "Cats" is also one of the longest running Broadway musicals and we all saw how that turned out. It's a huge risk they're taking here.

Oh, ok farerb. It's just I also know you hated how musical movies were being adapted these days. I didn't see them mention anywhere it would be shot as one film and split, though. Link?

Estefan, ons major difference between Cats and Wicked is Wicked will already be automatically better because it won't make the same CGI half-cat half-human hybrids mistake. Everyone could tell those were awful from the trailer, making no one want to see it.

I wonder how the new songs and additions and changes to the old songs will be.

Anyway, I read Jeff Goldblum is finally confirmed as the Wizard, Ethan Slater (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) is Boq, and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) is Madame Morrible.

Jeff Goldblum'll be fun. I really wish he'd be cast as Hades in Hercules--and part of me wonders if him being busy with a movie like this one would make that even less likely than it probably is anyway--but I am happy he'll be in this.

What a strong cast. Ariana is weaker than Erivo and Goldblum as far as acting, but I'm sure she's having a ball. I think she's always been a big fan of Wicked the same way she is of Hercules (she had a cover of "Popular" on her debut album years ago). Actually, I think Ariana and Goldblum both would easily transition to Hercules (her as Megara and him as Hades).

I agree, Divinity. Except I did not think Erivo was good as the Blue Fairy. She kind of seemed lost and uncharismatic, like she was barely giving anything, to me. But I did love her in Bad Times at the El Royale, so I am not giving up on her!

The more I look at this dress the more I like it. Lovely homage to Glinda’s 1939 dress and the bubble effect.

She looks like a modern prom queen to me. At least she's wearing pink. UmbrellaFish, what did you mean bubble effect? Her dress has the bubble effect? Or the bottom half of the bubble she's in? What?

The pleating of the dress creates pockets like air bubbles and at the bottom of her dress you can see her crinoline which looks like soap bubbles or even bubble wrap. Of course these are references to the bubble in which Glinda arrives in the 1939 movie.

Oh, I gotcha. That's pretty cool. I now like the dress, it just doesn't look classic Glinda to me. You do also know she arrives in a bubble in Wicked the musical, right? And we speculate we are seeing the bottom of her bubble in these pictures that will have a full bubble filled in for her to arrive in as well.

Wow, the dress is beautiful and Ariana looks amazing. I never thought about her as the greatest actress, but I have the feeling this is the role made for her and she will be excellent.
