Known for co-directing How to Hook Up Your Home Theater, The Ballad of Nessie, Prep & Landing, and Olaf's Frozen Adventure, Kevin Deters left WDAS after 22 years leaving behind his directing partner Stevie Wermers-Skelton.
Kevin Deters wrote:Today is my final day at Walt Disney Animation Studios. After 22 years there, I’m excited to see what new adventures life will bring, but ever thankful for the amazing array of talent I’ve worked with over my tenure there. I’m very grateful to have worked with fine people from literally all over the world and every walk of life. Thanks to all!

What a shame! I love all the shorts he has directed with Stevie and I was hoping they would make a feature film together one day. Is it known why he's leaving the studio?

No, but I assume it's because he's been offered to direct a feature elsewhere since a number of his former colleagues are congratulating him.

By the way, a Disney animator made this comment on Kevin's farewell post. Could "Loaf" be an upcoming short?

If you have been working at a studio for years, but never had the chance to do more than a few shorts, I assume it is too hard to resist the opportunity to make your own feature if another studio offer you the chance.

Maybe Loaf is misspelled Olaf?

OK. Yes, maybe it's that. It's a shame Disney never offered him to direct one. But, if that's true, at least he'll get to do it now. And Stevie Wermers-Skelton is still at the studio. Maybe she can still get a chance to direct a movie there, especially now that they seem to try to have more diversity.

What a pity. He seemed like an modest and grounded person, so it's a pity that he's leaving.

I would've liked to see them direct a feature film at WDAS, but I'm glad at least they have been given something to do. I'm looking forward to seeing their future projects at Disney Television Animation.
