I was hoping for this announcement. I hope it actually gets bonus features.

It's more likely to be a repackage of the 2012 disc with a new MoviesAnywhere digital code.

Sadly I agree.

Hoping, but not expecting, an actual new edition and not just a repackaging. I just bought the Blu-Ray / DVD combo pack this past fall, so I guess I won't be too devastated (or surprised) if we're just getting a repackaging.

Honestly, I'd love a steelbook with the Struzan artwork (or any release at all to use the Struzan poster). They clearly know there's enough of a following to justify making it.

Decided to give this its own thread. Disney plans to release Hocus Pocus on Anniversary Edition Blu-ray and DVD (the latter now available and barebones, but this time it's anamorphic unlike the 2002 release and I can confirm this because I have the new DVD):
Blu-ray:
https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B07CQR5SWN/
DVD:
https://www.amazon.com/HOCUS-POCUS-Bett ... B07CPJYR3G
And in case some of you are wondering if this release will extras, there's some good news 'round the corner (though the ad stated there would be extras):
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p ... tcount=551
There will also be a (kick butt) Target exclusive:
https://www.target.com/p/hocus-pocus-25 ... A-53785016
And a Best Buy steelbook exclusive:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hocus-pocu ... Id=6261318
If the disc is indeed new, I'm buying the Target edition. Way to got to Disney for stepping up their game.

If the move does have bonus features that make it worthwhile, I'll probably go with Target, too, although the BestBuy steelbook is cute.

Glad to hear that this edition will most likely have bonus features because they have been long overdue. I love the new style of Target Exclusive editions so will be getting that. Hope Who Framed Roger Rabbit gets something similar for the rumored 30th anniversary edition.

The steelbook looks awesome, but the Target cover art, 40 page booklet included entices me more. Glad to hear there might actually bonus features on this release. However, whether it's just 2 trailers or how in depth said features are is what I'm wondering about. Will it be 2 trailers and a fun game to play. Maybe stop the virgin from lighting a candle that may resurrect the Sanderson sisters

Loving what I see. Very curious about the new features. Though I have to say the new cover art on the regular edition is kinda boring. But anyways, I’m very glad I didn’t but the previous edition.

Yes, hopefully it's in-depth features. And yes the regular edition has a crappy cover art. The moon being so much smaller than before looks bad.

Not only that, but the new purple thing all around isn’t looking too good. The previous cover, with the golden border looked awesome. But maybe it’ll look better in person. And fingers crossed for a slipcover

To me it looks like they want it to look like a crystal ball in the cover art.

Well that idea is cool but I don't think it looks much like one and they never use a crystal ball in the movie.

Still no word on Hocus Pocus but the new Nightmare Before Christmas edition Blu-Ray adds nothing new besides the sing-along feature, and it loses the art galleries and the two shorts (Vincent and Frankenweenie). People seem to strongly believe though that Hocus Pocus is just a reissue of the previous Blu-Ray meaning no special features and no new transfer.

Thankfully I don't have the film on Blu-ray. (Same with TNBC.) It never felt real that Disney would give this film a genuinely good release anyway--even less so now than years back.

Oh, good! Now I'm just conflicted between the Target and BB versions. I probably would get the BB steelbook if it wasn't $30.
